job summary:
A Research Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Chillicothe, IL area. This role supports ePowertrain validation engineers by assisting with validation planning, risk assessment, and issue resolution across multiple NPI programs, requiring technical, communication, and analytical skills.

responsibilities:
+ Determine ePowertrain program risk by driving usage of FMEAs.
+ Assist in coordinating and facilitating Simulation-Test Collaboration Workshops (STCW) to understand program risk mitigation and identify validation gaps.
+ Develop new validation procedures for unmet validation needs with the validation engineer.
+ Collaboratively develop validation plans and project management plans for the ePowertrain system with systems teams, lab teams, and global machine development groups, favoring virtual and lab-based techniques.
+ Create Proactive Reliability glidepaths.
+ Conduct L5 ePowertrain system readiness summaries (SRS) for NPI Gates 1-6.
+ Manage the ePowertrain NPI Issues List.
Skills:
+ Clear understanding of laboratory and/or product testing processes.
+ Clear understanding of Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEAs).
+ Good oral and written communication skills.
+ Intellectual curiosity to understand how everything works.
Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
+ 5-7 years of on-the-job experience outside of academia.
