The Value & Evidence Scientific Engagement (V&ESE) organization must ensure we obtain robust payer/healthcare system insights to demonstrate unrivaled evidence of value, develop and implement clear and efficient payer communication processes, and execute flawless and impactful communication of the value of Janssen’s innovations for population health decision makers.

The Senior Director (SD), National Accounts engages scientifically with the nation’s largest Payers to drive access and optimal healthcare delivery for patients. They are responsible for developing and executing therapeutic scientific strategies to demonstrate the value of the Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine portfolio of products. This role collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality evidence to support market access, reimbursement, and clinical decision-making across all therapeutic areas.

The SD manages and leads National Accounts Directors who will report directly into this role. This individual has a proven leadership track record with exceptional communication, collaboration and prioritization skills, with expertise in leading in a matrix organization. SD is accountable for achieving results individually and through others, with a focus on leadership, engagement, and execution in a compliant manner. They are responsible for the development of employee(s) within the department.

They are fluent in Health Care Compliance guidelines for field based medical personnel; working closely with HCC partners, ensuring guidelines are followed in all initiatives. This position participates on the V&ESE Field Leadership Team led by Vice President, V&ESE.

Key areas of responsibilities include:

+ Develop and implement scientific strategies aligned with business objectives and patient access needs

+ Lead engagements with key national payers, communicating complex scientific and pharmacoeconomic concepts in a clear and compelling manner to diverse audiences

+ Establish and maintain strong relationships with a key national payer, health systems, and key opinion leaders

+ Collaborate with medical affairs, commercial teams, and market access to support product launch and lifecycle management

+ Shape evidence-based value propositions for Population Health Decision Markers

+ Support the development of dossiers, health technology assessments, and other market access materials.

+ Act as the primary scientific liaison with a National Payer facilitating collaborative projects and initiatives

+ Provide strategic direction and shape research initiatives with the RWE and Population Health Research teams based on customer insights

+ Foster a culture of innovation and excellence across scientific affairs.

+ Ensure continuous and timely flow of information on of key engagement activities, achievements and needs of the field organization.

+ Partner with V&ESE LT and HR to characterize the current and future talent needs and identify/ develop/ connect to talent pools in and outside of J&J.

+ Maintain deep understanding of the healthcare ecosystem and evolving marketplace to inform business planning and strategy development.

+ Maneuver through conflict and ambiguity.

Essential Functions:

Scientific Strategist and Lead for a National Health Plan: 40 %

  • Develop, lead and successfully execute on robust scientific strategic account plan following all compliance guidelines and expectations
  • Develop high level customer relationships by leading cross-portfolio/pipeline scientific discussions, aligning scientific resources to meet customer needs, and anticipating changes to the healthcare landscape

Leadership: 20 %

  • Individually: as leader for key strategic initiatives; develops and drives National Account Plan strategies and overall success
  • Manager: to develop national team members as strategist for National Account initiatives as well as overall Janssen managerial responsibilities for direct report(s)

Therapeutic Area expert: 40%

  • Leverage deep knowledge and understanding of disease mechanisms, treatment pathways, and emerging trends to drive strategic initiatives
  • Shape the direction of research and market positioning to optimize market access and clinical decision-making.
  • Translate customer and market insights into actionable insights and market access scientific strategies

Qualifications

+ A minimum of a Doctorate degree (ie. PharmD, PhD, MD). In a Clinical, Scientific and/or outcomes related discipline is preferred.

+ At least 7 years post-graduate experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.

+ Prior experience in a clinical or HEOR field related capacity is required

+ Advanced training or experience in health economics, pharmacoeconomics, health care policy, life sciences, quality of life research or pharmacoepidemiology preferred.

+ This position requires approximatley 50-70% travel. They must have quick adaptability across multiple time zones and must be able to lift and transport work materials as needed.

+ A valid driver’s license issued in the United States.
