Job Description

The following new position is available in the position of Facilities Maintenance Electrician based out Markham, IL under the jurisdiction of the Chicago Division Facility Maintenance Supervisor.

Responsibilities of this assignment will include repair of electrical systems, services, and equipment for the Division. This will include maintaining and providing safe condition and operation of all electrical fixtures and systems within the Division; and to ensure that all work is done on time and conforming to current standards.

Critical performance areas include the following but may vary depending on the location and circumstances:

+ Inspects, maintains, cleans, repairs, tests, and adjusts a variety of electrical equipment, circuitry and fixtures.

+ Troubleshoot, diagnose electrical malfunctions and perform required repairs.

+ Complete electrical work order requests through work order system in a timely fashion.

+ Installs, maintains and repairs electrical wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels and outlet boxes, as well as a wide variety of electrical fixtures.

+ Tests circuits and equipment by use of voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, and ohmmeter; and electrical circuits include voltage up to 600 volts, 3-phase current.

+ Use hand tools, power tools, and appliances needed for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical circuits, related fixtures, and hardware; Measures, cuts, threads, bends, assembles, and installs conduits, inserts, splicing and connecting wires to fixtures, outlets, switches, receptacles, and power source.

Minimum Requirements :

· Must have a valid driver’s license and travel by company vehicle to assigned work location or to other destinations as required.

· Must have experience as a journeyman electrician with a journeyman electrician certification and good knowledge of local and State Electrical Code as dictated by the local electrical codes and prepared to produce on demand.

· Must have Knowledge of safety procedures in regards to working near high voltage distribution systems and knowledge of power distribution in equipment facilities.

· Must be experienced in troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and installation of industrial wiring. Must be able to perform maintenance services, diagnostic services on equipment malfunctions, complete repairs when required and skilled in the use of a wide variety of test equipment such as voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, and ohmmeter.

· Must have good knowledge of electrical systems for emergency power systems (emergency generators/transfer switches and knowledge of UPS system’s operations sequences)

· Must be able to complete the installation, modification and repair of various electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and controls.

· Must be able to interpret electrical schematics, apply building plans and perform installation from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings including modifying and repairing new and existing electrical systems.

· Must be able to work in a shop environment and outside in all weather conditions, occasionally in confined spaces at elevated heights.

· Must be able to work in heights by utilizing bucket trucks, lifts, ladders, etc.

Physical Requirements:

· Must meet all medical fitness duty requirements for the position.

· Must be able to continually bend, squat, kneel, lift, twist, climb, reach, stand and walk

· Must be able to use hands for repetitive pushing, pulling, and single grasp motion.

· Must be able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and to move objects in excess of 100 pounds.

The ideal candidate profile:

· Demonstrate good teamwork skills and maintain positive interactions with others.

· Has basic computer skills and displays good verbal, reading comprehension and writing skills.

· Dedicated to getting the job done while meeting established standards of quality, safety and client satisfaction.

· Able to be on call 24/7 and assist with afterhours electrical emergencies in a timely manner.

Union:

The Electrician is a unionized position and is part of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). Wages, initiation fees, and monthly dues are required as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

HOURS: 2:00 PM -10:00 PM

WORK DAYS: MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

REST DAYS: SATURDAY & SUNDAY

LOCATION: MARKHAM IL

RATE OF PAY: $40.86 PER HOUR
