Job Description
Location: Mundelein, IL

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Job Overview: This position will support all production operations to optimize output and minimize waste while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards. Assist in the manufacture of quality products (per customer standards) as determined by the production schedule and shift supervisor. To gain understanding of the technical knowledge required in the manufacturing process, and continuously improve skills and productivity through teamwork. Perform housekeeping duties as needed to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.

Job Dimensions:
Schedule: 2-2-3, 12 hour schedule on days (6:00am-6:00pm). Must be available on alternating weekends and some holidays.

Principle Accountabilities:
Oversee shift personnel in a manner that promotes continuous improvement and co-worker engagement.
Ensure safety and environmental commitment and compliance.
Support daily production requirements and changeover needs.
Respond to any equipment stoppages/line problems and be available for team members.
Communicate issues to supervisor.
Assure 5S, TPM, and standardized work compliance and development.
Assure co-worker growth and team rotation; cross train team members. Close work orders as they are completed and open new work orders.
Make line staff assignments.
Provide technical training and process support.
Make product quality decisions and ensure quality production.
Ensure the department is complying with plant policies and procedures, as well as safety requirements including our Safety Guiding Principles.
As a working lead, this position is also responsible for setting up extrusion lines, performing extrusion/die head changes, monitoring all line controls and performing proper equipment adjustments to ensure product specifications and quality are achieved.
Will examine products for fine defects and perform quality testing and maintaining appropriate records.
Drive efforts to reduce waste.
Assist in preventative maintenance of machines and auxiliary equipment. Responsible for ensuring work is completed according to standard and that work area and equipment is kept clean and in good working order (5S)

Qualifications/Requirements

Knowledge & Experience:
Experience in the extrusion process and/or experience as a machine operator
Must have experience in reading production specifications and/or blueprints.
Good mechanical and technical aptitude a plus

Education & Certifications:
High school diploma or GED, Associate Degree and /or industrial certification preferred

Skills/Abilities
Must have good computer skills
