Ramboll is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Managing Consultants to join the firm’s Chicago, IL and Milwaukee, WI offices. Other locations are possible as well. We invite you to bring your strong analytical abilities into play as you evaluate contamination and regulatory compliance risks and other environmental, health and safety issues.
To succeed in this role, you must have a Bachelor or Master of Science in Environmental, Chemical or other related Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology with related consulting experience.
For this role, we are looking for someone with 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience specifically in conducting and managing environmental due diligence reviews (e.g., Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, environmental compliance reviews, liability assessments, desktop due diligence reviews) of small and large commercial and industrial portfolios.  Are you our new Environmental Managing Consultant? As our new Environmental Managing Consultant, you will be part of a dynamic team providing state-of-the-art scientific, technical, and strategic risk management assistance to an international client base. We are looking for an experienced consultant to manage diligence projects and conducting reviews of complicated industrial sites.  Work will be split between office-based work (currently work-from-home during the COVID-19 pandemic), including reviewing project-related materials, writing reports and managing other consultants, and site visits (including some local/regional travel).
Depending on your areas of focus, your key tasks and responsibilities may include:
Completing diligence reviews of complex commercial and industrial sites.
Completing limited environmental compliance reviews of industrial sites, by reviewing and abstracting regulatory requirements for multi-media environmental compliance.
Reviewing site investigation reports and providing conclusions and opinions related to the extent of contamination, recommendations and development of scopes of work for site investigation activities.
Preparation of technical reports that effectively communicate (summarize) site findings.
Formulating conclusions and opinions and communicating with clients.
Travel to industrial and commercial facilities for site visits (typically one day in duration), including both local and non-local travel (using social distancing procedures and other COVID-19 precautions as appropriate).
Supporting multiple projects and meeting high quality standards on project deliverables.
Designs and executes complete projects of substantial size and complexity
Conducts independent technical analyses and directs technical analyses of others
In-depth experience in developing innovative approaches to solving complex problems
Prepares documentation of technical analyses and research
Independently prepares draft work products and reviews/edits work products of others
Prepares and finalizes client communications
Significant role in client contracts
May assist in writing papers for publication
Manages proposal preparation
Frequently leads client discussions and develops clients independently
Manages complex projects, some of substantial size and supervises/delegates as necessary
Assists in development and management of project budgets
Demonstrates ability to present complex technical concepts effectively both orally and in writing so clients, regulatory agencies and legal groups can easily comprehend them
Effectively delegates assignments, responsibilities, and accountabilities to employees, in collaboration with Project Managers. QA/QC of written reports as necessary

A minimum of a Bachelors in Geology, Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Geologic Engineering), Environmental Science or Environmentally-Related Field from an accredited institution and have a minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental consulting.  Masters degrees are welcomed but not required.
An understanding of the diligence reviews and liability assessments for small and large Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) deals.
Experience with evaluating risks associated with M&A deals for buyers, sellers, lenders and investors.
