Monday - Friday 6:55a to 3:00p
Itasca, IL

Position Overview:

The electronics technician conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components. The primary role of the Controls Technician is to provide detailed technical support to their home plant operations team. This role will encompass the following tasks specifically but can be called upon to assist in technical matters as deemed necessary.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Abides by all Amcor's Safety and Quality policies and procedures. Detailed diagnostic analysis of plant operations equipment. Development of preventative and predictive maintenance systems for plant operations Manage parts list, cost and timeline to complete repair / overhaul of the detailed diagnostic analysis. Design and integration of improvements to automated quality inspection systems. Provide hands on assistance in the completion of events surrounding the diagnostic analysis. Troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and programming issues related to plant controls. Identification and interaction with vendors specifically to replace or improve the reliability of OEM equipment used by the operations and maintenance team. Provides direction on Preventive / Predictive maintenance plan to achieve optimal operational reliability to include scheduling. Provide onsite, scheduled training on controls systems, preventive and predictive maintenance. Provide phone support for the plant operations team to assist in troubleshooting / repair of controls and automation. Provide on-site after-hours support for the plant operations team to assist in troubleshooting / repair of equipment. Work with the site's operations leadership on new product / equipment installation, startup, and commissioning. Development of training materials and work instructions to facilitate consistent application of Best Practices

Travel to provide project support to Amcor plants as requested.
Work overtime as needed to complete assigned tasks.

Authorization:

Those employees with authorized training, can shut down / stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee's health and safety. Recommend Staff stop production for unacceptable quality. Recommend Staff quarantine out-of-specification products, materials, or supplies. Contact any member of Management without fear of reprisal concerning questions, suggestions, or complaints regarding quality, working conditions or job environment.

Education and Experience:

AAS in Electrical Technology or Computer Technology or five years of manufacturing experience in controls/automation technology.

Other Requirements:

Ability to review, correctly interpret and modify PLC's.
Ability to use Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Wonderware software. Familiar with Beckhoff DATA Acquisition system, and networking between systems
Experience with multiple brands of (HMI) touch screen applications and programming
Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values related to job functions.
Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions / judgement calls based on the situation at hand.
