Job Summary
The Environmental Manager is responsible for managing facility compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations and internal company policies. This role shall be performed in a way so as to promote operational excellence with respect to EHS&S compliance and culture. The Environmental Manager shall:
Coordinate activities as detailed below with the EHS&S Manager and the Health & Safety Manager.
Assist the Joliet facility in satisfying contractual requirements, operational, environmental and ISO 9001 requirements.
Continuous improvement in all areas pertaining to your job which include quality, health, safety, security and environmental.
Environmental compliance
Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations, corporate's Risk Assessment and Management program
Minimize negative impacts to the environment in all areas of operation.
Identify and record problems (non-conformances, incidents and near misses); initiate, provide, implement and verify/solutions to those problems.
Continuous improvement in all areas pertaining to the job which include quality, health, safety, security, and environmental.

 


Responsibilities

 

SWPPP/NPDES Compliance
Title V Compliance: Reports ERMS, Annual AER, Monthly emissions, etc.
SPCC - semiannual plan updates & compliance
Assist EHS&S manager as needed in EHSS duties (ie., Remediation, compliance management)
Manage all aspects of waste management program (RCRA, IEPA waste, non haz waste)
Spill cleanup: project manage; spill & incident response
Environmental inspections - daily, weekly, monthly, etc.
IDPH Drinking Water: collect samples; arrange analytical, reporting, auditing
Assist EHS&S manager during or manage Agency inspections (EPA, DOT, FRA, USCG, etc.)
Main records of all environmental programs
Assist in joint projects with the EHS&S Manager and Health & Safety Manager such as:
OPA facility response plan (USEPA)
OPA marine transfer related response plan (USCG)
Employee training
Community relations
Emergency response contractor coordination
Review new products for the terminal
Participate Odor Alert Network, Chloride working group
IMTT Illinois has discontinued ISO14001.Issue work permits
Purchasing and receiving in EAM for PPE, medical services, etc.
Oversee proper functioning of septic systems in conjunction with maintenance department
Direct Terminal Operator in Environmental and drainage activities
Serve as a backup for the Health & Safety Manager. 

 


Qualifications

 

Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Science
Minimum of five years' experience in environmental or related field
Environmental management experience required
Valid Driver's License
TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT's terminal locations.
Hazwoper certified
Skills and Abilities
Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.
Ability to communicate with all other terminal departments.
Excellent computer skills required
Hours of Work
Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30pm.
This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

This job operates in an office environment as well as the outside environment.
This would require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stand, or stoop, as necessary.
Ability to perform climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting. Must be able to work in confined spaces, over water and not be afraid of heights.
Must be able to pass a physical ability test, medical examination and drug test. This position be subject to random drug screening.
The ability to see (20/20) and hear either naturally or through the use of corrective lenses or hearing aids
The ability to wear a respirator as certified through a medical evaluation by a licensed physician.
