Job Description
SUMMARY: Responsible for hookup of motors, transformers, control boxes and control cases. Responsible for troubleshooting electrical systems.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Repair, replace and troubleshoot electrical systems on coal mining equipment approximately 80% of their time.
- Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams and blueprints to calibrate, service, repair or install electronic devices.
- Run tests, isolate problems, replace faulty section of wiring, and lay conduit.
Works within OSHA-specified guidelines to ensure his own safety and that of other workers. - Maintain and secure work tools.
- Clean and maintain work area.
- Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurately account for all time spent per job.
- Keep work area clean including shop floor.
- Other duties as assigned
EQUIPMENT
- Ability to properly use hand tools.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to identify wires by color.
- Ability to work in various positions, including working in small spaces.
- Ability to read and interpret diagrams, blueprints and assembly prints.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
- Prior experience working with high voltage systems, 400-600 amps.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for a shop environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 50 pounds. Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry should not be worn.
