JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Department of Psychiatry Chair and the Chief Psychologist, the Health Psychologist provides psychological assessments, clinical management, and psychotherapy to patients diagnosed with chronic and/or acute medical conditions across various levels of medical service areas.These conditions include coping with chronic headaches, seizure disorders, obesity, diabetes, insomnia, cancer, cardiac conditions, and any associated family discord. As a member of an interprofessional health care team, the Health Psychologist works alongside medical providers, utilizing a warm hand-off approach, in the Primary and/or Specialty Care Outpatient Clinics.The primary components of this position include functional assessment, motivational interviewing, self-management strategies, and single session therapy interventions with individuals and their families.The Health Psychologist carries an outpatient caseload of individuals diagnosed with co-morbid psychological and chronic medical conditions, providing brief (4-12 sessions) interventions for psychological presentations associated with specific medical conditions.The Health Psychologist conducts group psychotherapy focusing on psychoeducation, coping, and self-monitoring, including brief focused treatment interventions.

Typical Duties
*Provides psychological assessments, behavioral screenings and brief focused individual and family psychotherapeutic interventions for individuals treated in medical clinics and medical inpatient units.
*Participates as a member of the Psychiatry Consultation and Liaison (C/L) service on the Inpatient medical units and in Emergency Room.
*Provides traditional psychotherapy services to individuals enrolled in the Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic.
*Conducts, facilitates, and coordinates psychotherapeutic services, including individual, family and group therapy.
*Provides clinical supervision and teaching to trainees in psychology.
*Provides psychology-based clinical training and teaching to medical staff and medical trainees, e.g., medical students, residents, and fellows
*Documents all encounters with patients in electronic medical record and communicates diagnoses and treatment recommendations to appropriate medical and mental health staff.
*Reports any suspected abuse or neglect, in accordance with Illinois State law and CCH Abuse and Neglect policies.
*Maintains active licensure with the State of Illinois and active credentials with CCH.
*Attends required meetings and participates in assigned committees.
*Attends and participates in multidisciplinary rounds on general medical and intensive care units, and frequently collaborates with other disciplines (e.g., medicine, nutrition, nursing) to provide integrated care, brief psychological assessments, and focused interventions in this role.
*Participates in necessary peer review and quality assurance activities.
*Engages in Ongoing Provider Performance Evaluation within the Department.
*Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
*Licensed as a doctoral-level clinical psychologist in the State of Illinois
*Completion of PhD or PsyD in Psychology from APA-accredited graduate program
*Completion of psychology internship from APA-accredited internship training program
*Minimum of one (1) year of training/work experience providing psychological services in a health care setting
*Experience working with a diverse population including gender, gender identity, age, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status (SES)
*Experience with individuals with substance abuse and/or chronic medical conditions
*Must be able to travel to CCH sites

Preferred Qualifications
*Certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP)
*Experience providing emergency and inpatient psychiatric consultations to medically ill
*Experience conducting pre-surgical evaluations (e.g., pre-surgical bariatric evaluations)
