Job Summary:

CAPS at Northwestern University is searching for two 12-month, full-time Staff Therapists (LCPC, LCSW, or Psychologist). Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Community-Based Intervention, these positions conduct mental health evaluations, provide brief individual and group therapy for Northwestern students, as well as crisis intervention, clinical consultation, and mental health programming to the Northwestern community with a particular focus on students who hold marginalized identities. Staff Therapists also participate as members of the training program through the provision of clinical supervision and/or training seminars. These positions currently offer some remote work options (2 days per week).

In addition to the provision of direct clinical services, Staff Therapists at CAPS serve as liaisons between the department and other areas of campus (e.g., a specific school or college within the institution) or between the department and specific segments of the student population (e.g., students with specific marginalized identities). These liaison roles are determined each year depending on need and may vary from year to year. Staff Therapists may also provide or assist with the administration of a specific program or initiative, such as Let’s Talk, New Student Orientation, or a segment of the group therapy program. Please note: This Staff Therapist position is based out of the Chicago CAPS office. This position requires some evening hours and occasional weekend duties. After-hours duties typically include 2-3 evenings and up to one weekend of on-call duties per quarter. Staff Therapists also generally provide 2-3 evening or weekend outreach events per quarter.

Pay: The pay range for these Staff Therapist positions is $90,000 - $93,000 depending on experience, skills, and internal equity.


Department Overview:

CAPS is a unit within the Division of Student Affairs at NU and is highly utilized by students and other campus community members seeking consultation. CAPS has offices on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses. NU has a total student population of approximately 21,000 students across both campuses, with approximately 18,500 of these students attending classes on the Evanston campus. The Chicago office serves primarily graduate and professional students while Evanston office serves both undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to our clinical services, CAPS reaches over 10,000 NU community members through outreach and educational programming on both campuses. CAPS also has a training program, including an APA-accredited Doctoral Internship in Psychology at our Evanston office and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Sport Psychology.
