Department of Special EducationSpecialized Faculty - Lecturer or Instructor
The Department of Special Education , in the College of Education, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, seeks faculty for adjunct Lecturer and Instructor positions. Specialized Faculty are responsible for teaching assigned courses throughout the semester. Courses in the Department of Special Education are taught face-to-face and online based on course catalog. High-needs areas of instruction include early childhood special education, special education policy and law, inclusive education, and teacher education. Responsibilities of the Specialized Faculty:
• Teach undergraduate and graduate level SPED courses, including online.
• Mentor and oversee Graduate Teaching Assistants when appropriate.
• Meet with instructors of other sections when appropriate.
Minimum Requirements:
• Master's degree in education or related field
• Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience or relevant field experience
Preferred Requirements:
• PhD in education or related field
• Teacher licensure
• Experience teaching in higher education settings
• Ability to teach in high needs areas of instruction
Salary: These positions will be filled each semester based on course enrollments and teaching needs for the department. These positions are hired between zero and 100% time and will not include benefits. Part-time faculty lecturers and instructors are hired to teach at $1,550 per credit hour for each course taught. Courses range from 1-4 credit hours.
