Job Description Summary 
 The Career Advisor and Employer Relations Specialist functions as a member of the Office of Career Services to provide individual career coaching and related career programming for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as alumni.

Under the supervision of the Director of Career Services, the Career Advisor and Employer Relations Specialist functions as a member of the Office of Career Services to provide comprehensive services to all undergraduates, graduates, and alumni. The person in this role will utilize strategies to cultivate relationships with students, alumni and employer partners in order to increase internship and career opportunities; develop programs and events, workshops, seminars, and other opportunities to enhance and grow professional experiences for students and alumni; and proactively engage with faculty and other community members to help students and alumni advance in their careers. Services are delivered in person and virtually.
Responsibilities 
 Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration, and active support of the University's Mission in Catholic and Lasallian higher education.

Career Coaching
-Assist students and alumni and customize services to meet needs including those entering the job market, alumni seeking advancement opportunities or transitioning to new roles.
-Meet individually with students and alumni to assist with resumes, cover letters, interviewing, job search strategies, social media platforms, and graduate school applications
-Manage student and alumni outreach
-Assist students to explore vocations, interests, competencies, skills, strengths, and values that will prepare them for meaningful work
-Utilize career assessment tools such as ONET, Focus2, BLS.gov, MBTI, and the Strong
-Develop and deliver presentations to student groups and classes in major liaison areas on topics such as resumes, interviewing, professionalism in the workplace, navigating career fairs and networking events, leveraging social media, building professional networks, and preparing for graduate school
-Utilize the Career Services Management database system (currently Handshake) to post positions, plan events, and input individual notes
-Coordinate and participate in career-related programs and events on and off campus such as job fairs and other co-curricular student activities
-Serve on internal and external committees
-Work with students to identify internships and other experiential learning opportunities
- Develop marketing materials to promote career-related programs, events, and resources
-Plan and execute alumni networking activities in order to cultivate meaningful engagement with students and identify potential student jobs and internships. Recruit and invite alumni to participate in career-related events
-Assist in the collection of relevant employment data for outcome reports
-Develop surveys and compile reports that track career progress and outcomes for internships and full-time employment
-Cultivate relationships with faculty and department chairs
-Assist the Director with managing, training, and assigning work to the graduate assistants

Employer and Community Engagement
-Cultivate and maintain relationships with employers in the private, non-profit, for profit, and government sectors in order to increase the number of experiential, networking, and employment opportunities available to students and alumni
-Develop and implement strategies designed to increase employment opportunities for students and alumni
-Coordinate outreach activities with community partners (Alumni Office, employers, faculty/staff, organizations, etc.)
-Engage with employer partners and alumni to offer career preparation services to students, alumni, and faculty
-Work with the Director of Career Services to identify and solicit sponsorship opportunities
