Hours
8:00 am - 5:00 pm (Mon-Fri)
Remote work model with occasional travel requirements to Headquarters in Chicago, IL and to project locations.

Are you passionate about power systems? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our Engineering Services and Power Systems function. As an Electrical Engineer, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.
This position is for an Electrical Engineer, with a focus on power systems, controls, and electrical design. The candidate will be responsible for contributing to project engineering efforts, electrical system design, power system controls design and programming, preparing specifications, and commissioning efforts to meet the requirements of various projects. The role will combine of power system engineering, SCADA engineering, and microgrid control design and implementation. Projects include commercial and industrial facilities, renewable energy sites, microgrid systems, distribution automation systems, and standalone islanded systems. The candidate is expected to provide support on proposal development and assist the commercial team with new business opportunities. The candidate will report to the Manager of Power Systems Control in the Engineering Solutions department. Remote working option is available, with occasional travel requirements to Chicago, IL headquarters and travel to project locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Power distribution system design, including specifying and selecting power system and communication system equipment.
Working collaboratively to develop electrical drawings, including one-line, three-line, communication, and wiring diagrams.
Interpreting written scopes of work, communicating with clients to understand requirements, and clearly defining engineering work.
Documenting and communicating effectively to internal and external stakeholders including report writing and summary presentations.
Designing control systems and logic, including determining and implementing appropriate control sequences.
Testing and commissioning of software, communication systems, relays, and power systems (on-site or remote support).
Self-starting and working within a cohesive team.
What you'll Need To Succeed:
Job Requirements ( To select this job at a minimum you must have the following)
BS degree in Electrical Engineering and 2-4 years of experience in the field.
Knowledge of codes and standards including NEC, NESC, and other relevant power system standards.
Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Experience designing, reviewing, and commissioning power system projects.
Familiarity with SCADA protocols Modbus and DNP3.
Familiarity with electrical power generation, distribution, and/or microgrids.
Familiarity with substation IEDs.
Strong hands-on debugging capability on hardware; strong system level integration ability.
