The Village of Orland Park is a premiere community with a claim to prominent dining, retail, entertainment, historic neighborhoods, wide-ranging residences and ever broadening business development. Our Development Services Department currently seeks a highly motivated, mature, responsible, and detail-oriented individual to join the team as Part-timeAdministrative Assistant. This position will perform general research, administrative and clerical duties related to various Development Services projects/programs. Work is of routine difficulty and is reviewed by the Director and all division managers.Key Responsibilities
This important role c ompletes clerical duties, which include but are not limited to: answering telephones and taking messages; greeting visitors; providing information related to the Village and the Development Services Department; responding to complaints; processing permits; calculating fees; writing construction site cards; verifying payment of contractor’s licenses; accepting and forwarding payments to the Cashier’s Office; issuing receipts; and data entry of inspection requests, in addition to maintaining files for permits and typing correspondence.
Additional responsibilities consist of p rocessing licenses and registrations; reviewing applications for completeness; sending late fee notices and completing other duties as assigned.Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
The ideal candidate will exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills and have a good attitude. A High School diploma or equivalent is required. Associates degree or equivalent coursework is preferred. One (1) – three (3) years of experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience is needed, in addition to experience in a p rofessional office setting. Must be proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and willing to learn additional databases. Maturity, confidentiality, and the ability to remain courteous and calm in stressful situations is a must.
Compensation & Benefits
This is an IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund) eligible position.
