This position is open to the public and all current city employees covered under the City’s Collective Bargaining Agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) – BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

The mission of the Chicago Department of Public Health is to promote and improve health by engaging residents, communities, and partners in establishing and implementing policies and services that prioritize residents and communities. Under direction, coordinates the information technology needs for a department OR performs system administration and management functions within the City’s centralized Information Technology (IT) department, and performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Monitors and evaluates the use and performance of existing or new surveillance/ case management systems and electronic Medical Records (EMR).

· Maintains security and update procedures for the Data Dictionary.

· Assists Director of Program Operations and senior epidemiologist in resolving operational problems. between databases and operating systems.

· Assist with preparing documents database techniques, procedures, and standards.

· Assists in designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents computer programs.

· Assist in setting up, maintaining, and evolving the cloud infrastructure of amazon web applications.

· Writes programs and queries to create management reports, design and modify existing databases and applications.

· Provides technical support by troubleshooting and/or coordinating the resolution of surveillance, case management system and electronic medical records.

· Coordinates projects related to the development and maintenance of SID Bureau technology systems.

· Serves as a liaison to the CDPH Informatics team and City’s centralized IT department and vendors on system installation and modification projects.

· Researches, evaluates, and recommends software products for purchase, as required.

·Trains and provides support with SID bureau system’s configuration and management and train on basic knowledge of AWS environment.

1340 S. Damen 4 th Floor

Monday-Friday 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM


Some additional hours may be required in case of a public health emergency**

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology/Systems, or a directly related field, plus four years of work experience in computer operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Selection Criteria

This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the interview will be selected.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

· Experience with operation and administration of local and wide area networks.

· Experience with surveillance, case management and Electronic Medical records (EMR) system security protocol, policies, and procedures.

· Knowledge of methods, practices, and procedures for analyzing and resolving computer-related problems, commercial computer systems applications and their capabilities

· Experience with computer systems management
