Summary:

The Development Associate is an integral member of a team of donor relations professionals and provides administrative support to members of the events team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Special Events, and with assignments from three other members of the events team, the Development Associate will provide support for the planning and execution of fundraising, cultivation, stewardship and alumni events at Rush. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Other information:

- A bachelor’s degree, ideally in a communications-related, marketing or fundraising major.

- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, advanced knowledge of Excel, Power Point and Access.

- Experience with web-based content management systems and e-communications programs.

- Ability to effectively manage large amounts of data, mailing lists, and giving information.

- Excellent verbal, grammar, and spelling skills.

- Pro-active and resourceful nature.

- Commitment to quality and timeliness in all aspects of work.

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

- Pride and ownership in work product.

- Most events take place on weekdays and weeknights; must be willing to work evening and occasionally weekend events.

- The individual must be team oriented, well organized and have the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects, work independently, and be comfortable taking simultaneous and varied assignments from several individuals.

- A pleasant manner and excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with colleagues, supervisors, volunteers and donors is essential.

- Candidate should be self-motivated, reliable, sensitive to issues of confidentiality, detail oriented and flexible.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

- Two years’ experience preferred in a non-profit environment, events experience a plus.

Responsibilities:

1. Event Organizational Support: Work with the events team on event contracts, invitation response tracking, catering orders, invite and attendee list analysis and management, seating assignments, meeting materials preparation, audio/visual coordination, signage development, name tag production and day-of-event logistics including registration.

2. Digital and Email Management: Manage publication and posting of events on Rush website and around the Rush campus; develop email copy and templates for event-related communications

3. Data Management: Develop, manage and analyze mailing list data and donor information. Track RSVPs within the Advance database and analyze large amounts of event-related data.

4. Event Research: Work with events team members on event research, including, event concepts, venue comparisons and external event calendars.

5. Fundraising Events: Assist with fundraising event initiatives, including, ticket processing, raffle or auction responsibilities and volunteer management.

6. Event Correspondence: Communicate important dates with Office of Philanthropy and senior leadership, coordinate correspondence related to events, organize event briefing packets and order thank you gifts.

7. Auxiliary and Outside Events: Assist the events team with support on auxiliary and third party events, as needed.

8. Administrative Duties: Manage administrative tasks such as invitation filing, scheduling meetings, mail and phone duties and office supply management.
