Job Description

Description We are seeking a Construction Accountant to join our team in WEST CHICAGO, Illinois. The successful candidate will oversee the entire accounting function of our construction projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all transactions. This role is centered around the construction industry and involves on-site work.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring all financial data is accurate and timely

- Handle union payroll, ensuring all employees are paid correctly and on time

- Process and monitor AIA waivers to ensure compliance with industry standards

- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately

- Handle invoicing, making sure all invoices are sent and paid on time

- Perform account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation to verify the accuracy of financial data

- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger

- Utilize Microsoft Excel and Foundation Software for various accounting tasks

- Manage AIA billing and AIA documents to ensure proper tracking of construction projects

- Monitor work in progress (WIP) and take necessary actions based on the project’s status

- Handle union payroll and payroll for under 100 employees

- Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) to ensure smooth financial operations. Requirements – Must have a minimum of 2 years experience as a Construction Accountant or in a similar role.

- Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations is required.

- Should have experience working with General Ledger and Journal Entries.

- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.

- Experience with Month End Close processes is necessary.

- Knowledge and experience with Foundation Software is needed.

- Familiarity with AIA Billing and AIA Documents is beneficial.

- Must have experience with WIP – Work In Progress.

- Experience with Payroll – Union and Payroll – Under 100 Employees is required.

- Must be proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).

- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Attention to detail and accuracy are essential for this role.

- Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Candidates should have strong problem-solving skills.

- Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
