Job Description
Description We are offering an opportunity for a entry level Paralegal to join a friendly team based in Chicago, Illinois. This role places you in the heart of the legal industry, where you will be working in a hybrid workplace. You will be expected to carry out tasks such as legal research, discovery, client interviews, drafting pleadings, client document gathering, and some administrative tasks like scheduling and case tracking.
Responsibilities: – Carry out commercial litigation tasks including breach of contract, civil rights, and legal malpractice cases – Conduct legal research using Westlaw – Handle discovery processes and utilize e-discovery programs where necessary – Conduct client interviews to gather necessary information for cases – Draft pleadings, discovery documents, and other legal documents – Gather client documents to support case preparation – Assist in billing processes using Clio – Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling, case tracking, and billing in Clio – Collaborate with a small team of attorneys and paralegals to manage case load. Requirements – Prior experience in a law firm or legal department is preferred – Proficiency in using Westlaw for legal research is mandatory – Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required – Candidates should have strong organizational skills and attention to detail – Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion is necessary – Candidates should be able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively – Familiarity with legal documents and terminology is expected – Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint – Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work well in a team environment – Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools in legal practice is essential.
