POSITION SCOPE:

The Quality will assist CI manager in all areas of the department. This involves maintaining and improving the Continuous Improvement processes for GPI’s Centralia Carton facility. Including the development, implementation and preservation of the validity of the Quality System, and processes which move the business forward and the identification of personnel training requirements relative to new equipment and processes. The major objective is to improve the people and processes so cost is driven from the system, the products are more competitive in the marketplace and the business grows. They understand and align all business operations with Continuous Improvement initiatives as he/she executes their role in the overall Continuous Improvement process to meet or exceed expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial, and operational objectives.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Assists CI manager in all areas of department, scheduling and training of employees; Assume CI Assistants responsibilities when out of plant.

+ Performs and monitors quality checks in all departments to ensure defects do not occur.

+ Determines and manages substandard product and raw materials (paperboard) determining what can/should be sold, sorted/reworked, or scrapped.

+ Enters Vendor (Raw Material) Complaints into SAP

+ Manages quality incident investigation process to ascertain root cause(s) – for use in recommending preventive measures and improving quality.

+ Oversees all sort activities (establish sort standards, mentor, and monitor temporary employees, SAP entries, and housekeeping)

+ Performs customer and internal sampling requirements.

+ Manages quality lab in Supervisor’s absence (testing, calibrations, trouble shooting, housekeeping, and training)

+ COA’s, EOM reporting, and Color Management

+ Gathers data as requested for projects/troubleshooting, etc.

+ Participates in safety and quality behavior-based observations.

+ Completes Certificate of Analysis as required by customer.

+ Maintains HACCP training as required.

+ Generates color standards when requested by customer.

+ Perform and record quality assurance testing data.

+ Perform SAP functions to hold finished goods for rework and release upon completion.

+ Maintain department integrity through compliance of safety and AIB standards.

+ Check color sample book for amount of samples to each customer. Compose letter for samples and send copy to sales service.

+ Retain and rotate color samples in facility inventory.

+ Maintain department integrity through compliance of safety and SQF standards.

+ Performs other organizational duties as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

+ Knowledge- H.S. education or equivalent.

+ CI Inspector and Lead person qualified.

+ Skills-Must have good color vision,

+ Attention to detail,

+ Good Communication Skills

+ Abilities-Good attendance, work in teams or alone.

+ Proven track record of identifying opportunities and the ability to recommend and implement improvements.

+ Project Management

+ Must be a leader with exceptional communication skills, good organization, and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.

Previous pulp, paper and packaging experience preferred.
