Johnson & Johnson Inc. is recruiting for Senior Manager, Q&C Digital Research & Innovation, located in New Brunswick, NJ. Candidates near a Johnson and Johnson office in Switzerland, Belgium, and US will be considered. This position requires up to 10% travel (domestic and internationally).

Per our J&J Flex Policy, the expectation for this position is to work in a Johnson and Johnson office in New Brunswick, NJ; Switzerland, Belgium, and US 3-4 days per week and work from home 1-2 days per week.

Enterprise Quality is a comprehensive organization within J&J that focuses on ensuring the highest standards of quality & compliance. It encompasses a Quality Operations division that handles Computer System Validation (CSV), QMS Management, and Commercial Quality Shared Services. Additionally, it includes a Transformation Office dedicated to steering strategic imperatives and improving the Quality & Compliance organization’s strategy through initiatives like Automated Product Release and Digitalization of Quality Management Systems. To facilitate the deployment of these critical initiatives, the group employs two Deployment Offices for the MedTech and Innovative Medicines segments and maintains a global presence through three regional leaders handling operations in Asia Pacific (ASPAC), Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA), and the Americas. The Transformation Office ensures efficient, measurable, and value-driven execution of the Q&C strategy, transformation portfolio, annual business planning cycles, and operational support for the office of Enterprise Quality VP.

Within the Transformation Office, the Data & Digital Strategy team is developing and driving a comprehensive digital and data strategy to improve quality and compliance, covering areas such as Data Foundations, AI/ML & IoT technologies, Quality & Compliance Innovation, and Digital Assets validation.

The Senior Manager, Quality & Compliance (Q&C) Digital Research & Innovation is responsible for improving Q&C’s digital maturity by integrating innovative capabilities and practices from external sources into our Q&C framework and strategy. In response to business needs for digital transformation, this role will scan the external landscape to identify and benchmark the use of both emerging and established technologies (e.g. Digital twins, control towers, Intelligent Automation, Gen AI, IoT, etc.) and translate it into consumable and applicable research for internal application. Further, this role will partner within and external to Q&C to identify opportunities to apply this research and facilitate its application within initiatives to improve the quality and compliance of J&J’s business processes, products and services.

+ Digital Capabilities Identification : Drive internal innovation by identifying the need for new digital capabilities and use cases to improve operations and overall digital maturity for Q&C, emphasizing high-value activities.

+ External Landscape Scanning : Monitor and analyze trends, technologies, and practices in the digital transformation space (e.g. Industry 4.0) within the life sciences industry and beyond.

+ Benchmarking and Research : Coordinate comprehensive benchmark analyses through external consultancies and leverage insights from leading industry guides and research firms (e.g. Gartner, Forrester, etc.) to increase automation, predictive risk management and operational efficiency

+ Service Development : Build an internal proficiency for and inventory of industry analysis, benchmarking and research that positions EQ as the go-to source of best practice in the digital space for our Q&C community

+ Measurement : Define and continuously measure a set of metrics that depict Q&C’s level of digital maturity and progress, and identify areas of opportunity for further investigation

+ Internal Application : Partner with internal teams and external authorities to identify opportunities for leveraging research findings and facilitating their execution through Proof of Concepts to enhance business processes, products, and services.

+ Innovation Integration : Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate innovative practices and technologies such as Design Thinking into our critical initiatives, empowering Q&C with latest best practices, market information and data

+ Collaboration : Develop and maintain an effective working partnership with senior management and leaders across the Transformation Office

+ Continuous Improvement : Advocate for a culture of continuous improvement by identifying standard methodologies and innovative solutions to optimize our business operations and strategic initiatives across EQ

Qualifications

Required:

+ Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, computer science or relevant technical field

+ A minimum of 8 years of relevant working experience

+ A minimum of 3 years in the application of digital concepts and technologies to tackle business challenges

+ Experience in a regulated industry in supply chain, operations, Quality, Information Technology or R&D function

+ Experience in benchmarking and incorporating the outside view through a functional strategic planning process

+ Strategic thinking, visionary and foresight to conceptualize new solutions that address core business objectives

+ Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization

+ Project management experience

+ Executive presentation skills

+ Collaborative approach and ability to connect

+ Ability to handle complexity and ambiguity

+ Bifocal approach – ability to zoom-in/zoom-out for strategic and tactical, high-level, and detailed, etc.

+ Ability to lead in the context of Our Credo

+ This position requires up to 10% travel. (domestic and international)

Preferred:

+ Master’s degree or equivalent experience

+ Experience in Information Technology

+ Cross-sector experience in MedTech and Innovative Medicines.

+ Experience in leading R&D or Innovation activities

+ Working knowledge of innovation tools, including Design Thinking

+ Experience in establishing metrics and scorecards to monitor progress against Strategic Plans

+ Experience in partnering with external environment to consider future strategies in a healthcare environment, while adhering to the prevailing regulations or influencing their evolution in a health care industry

+ Specific experience in advancing a culture of Innovation
