Job Description
Reports to: Production Supervisor

Job Overview: The Technical Specialist is responsible for providing technical expertise to ensure optimal machine production and efficiencies. Will be seen as the lead process operator of a sub-section or small section in a department of operations. This position will support all production operations to optimize output and minimize waste while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards. Additionally, will be involved in solving process related issues and problems on a day-to-day basis.

Part of AF Mundelein Production Team
Schedule: B Crew 6:00am - 6:00pm Rotating 12 Hour Schedule

Principal Accountabilities:
Under the direction of the supervisor, incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the department is complying with policies and procedures and all safety requirements including the Safety Guiding Principles
Assure associate growth by developing team members, provide cross training, and assist in the OJT and skill development of new employees in your assigned area
Expectation is that you will provide strong technical skills coupled with the ability to inspire and motivate team members and keep the morale strong by supporting and motivating others to do their best.
Incumbent must drive for results, provide continuous improvement, and associate engagement.
Must have strong process management skills, the ability to effectively delegate routine tasks and get things done through others
Must be flexible and open to changes in the work environment, and deal with frequent changes or unexpected events
Able to creatively solve problems and be relentless when it comes to finding solutions to complex problems to improve plant efficiencies and ensure efficient workflow
Must treat people with respect, work with integrity, ethically uphold organizational values, and establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers to gain trust and respect.
Assists team members as needed, with technical issues as they pertain to a specific product
Interact with all plant departments on different levels to address process problems (Quality, Maintenance, Planning, Customer Service, Finance
Gives and welcomes feedback, committed to the success of team and supports the efforts of team members to succeed.
May also perform the work done by subordinates on a temporary basis
Support/Lead process improvement activities
Assist in identifying best practices and standard methods to use on all crews
Support production lines experiencing technical or quality problems and analyze opportunities for improvement
