Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of the Leadership and Society Initiative (LSI), the Associate Director will be responsible for the oversight, planning, and execution of LSI's forthcoming part-time pathway curriculum for accomplished leaders seeking to design a next chapter of meaning, societal engagement, and enduring connections.

LSI currently offers a full-time fellowship where distinguished individuals join the University's unparalleled ecosystem of big ideas and breakthrough thinking for an immersive, in-residence academic year. Through LSI's curriculum, featuring a shared cohort journey complemented by opportunities for individual customization, Fellows engage with eminent faculty and expert practitioners to explore how their next chapter can be meaningful for them and for society.

In this newly established role, the Associate Director will lead LSI's efforts to translate its existing learning journey into a complementary LSI curriculum and experience tailored to executive leaders who are seeking to engage in LSI's transformational fellowship on a part-time basis over multiple years.

This is a great opportunity for an entrepreneurial thinker and service-oriented leader seeking to lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of a new program in a dynamic learning environment working across multiple stakeholder groups, from faculty, to University leaders, social impact practitioners, business executives, and the distinguished Fellows of the program. This role will be pivotal in bringing the field-defining work of the University into practical applications by activating an advanced leadership force working to create positive change on social, economic, and environmental needs.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees the development and launch of this new part-time pathway in LSI under the supervision of LSI's Director and in close partnership with three other LSI team members, the Graham School Dean, and an array of external advisors.
  • Partners with LSI's Associate Director overseeing candidate recruitment to build new relationships and leverage LSI's existing networks to help recruit outstanding individuals to apply for this part-time opportunity.
  • Cultivates new and stewards existing relationships with faculty and staff throughout campus to ensure the part-time fellowship offers a gateway to the field-defining ideas of the University.
  • Develops and oversees all aspects of the part-time program in collaboration with staff and elective faculty, including the curriculum, schedule, accommodation, field trips, and workshops.
  • Supports marketing and communications for the program, in close partnership with the Director of LSI and the Graham School's Director of Marketing and Recruitment.
  • Collaborates with the Director of the Master of Liberal Arts ,and others across the University, to coordinate on the offering of online audit courses.
  • Leads program innovation and continuous improvement, incorporating feedback from initial part-time cohorts to strengthen future program offerings.
  • Develops and manages the budget related to the program.
  • Attends and closely manages the weeklong and weekend residencies of the program, which will take place on the University's main campus in Hyde Park as well as abroad.
  • Recruits and hires faculty, staff, and instructors for the program.
  • Develops and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.
  • Has a deep understanding when interacting with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Education:
  • Graduate degree.

Experience:
  • 3+ years of work experience in program development and management.
  • Background in a entrepreneurial environment with continuous learning, adaptation, and realignment of priorities.
  • Managing budgets.
  • Liaise and build partnerships with collaborators at all organizational levels, from executive decision-makers to frontline administrative staff.
  • A proven record of launching new programs in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:
  • Extensive program management skills.

Preferred Competencies
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Significant experience in program design, executive, and evaluation, managing multiple work streams and project partners simultaneously.
  • Prioritize among myriad competing tasks often with tight turn arounds.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication.
  • Comfortable working on a 'flat' team, where all team members work at the strategy level and interface with senior-level leadership, while simultaneously conducting administrative tasks, such as stapling materials and ordering supplies.
  • An understanding of higher education and the social impact sector.
