Job Description
The Adler Planetarium is seeking a Public Safety Manager to join our dynamic team located on Chicago's Museum Campus. The Public Safety Manager is responsible for all aspects of the public safety department which support the safety and security of employees, visitors, and Adler property. They collaborate with Guest Services, Special Events, Exhibits, and Operations staff members to ensure effective management and facility support for activities that impact the Adler. - Interviewing, hiring, training and coaching full-time & part-time public safety staff
- Developing and updating policies, procedures, and practices for daily activities in public safety and facilities
- Maintaining and updating emergency and evacuation plans, training all Adler staff on emergency and evacuation procedures, conducting periodic emergency and evacuation drills, and conducting operations/safety tours for new employees.
- Monitors and maintains security and life safety equipment throughout the facility, works with vendors on preventative measures and creates service requests for any repairs where needed
- Creating and maintaining relationships with life safety agencies throughout the City of Chicago, Cook County and the State of Illinois
