Position Highlights:
Position: Surgical Simulation Specialist
Location: Evanston, IL
Full Time/Part Time: 40 hours full-time
Hours: M-F 7:30a-4:00p; Need flexibility on start & end time w/ labs/courses
Required Travel: no

What you will do:
Serves as a role model and resource to network staff for competency based education
Develops and /or revises instruction written materials, web based materials and audiovisual aids to augment educational programs
Collaborates with Directors, Nursing Education and Professional Development, medical specialties regarding centralized simulation
Serves as a resource to staff for various teaching/learning strategies
Solicit instructor and student feedback following simulation experience to analyze the impact of simulation on the learning process
Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and practices for the Simulation Center
assist with development of learning opportunities using simulations and simulators
Coordinate with community as needed
Serve as liaison between the simulation center and the community, and other simulation centers
Assist individual departments with "Skills Days" as needed
Assist faculty with abstracts, Power Point presentations, conference workshops, manuscripts for publication
Identify extramural grants/partnerships funding opportunities (governmental, professional foundations, industry) for education
Identify extramural grants/partnerships funding opportunities for patient safety research
Initiation and implementation of research studies
Coordinate simulation research data collection, management and analysis
Maintain data confidentiality and security
Initiation and implementation of research studies
Maintenance and repair of simulator and clinical equipment
Recommend and implement cost saving measures and identify key initiatives to target improvement of delivery of services
Orchestration of acquisition, maintenance, cleaning and repair of simulator and support equipment
Ability to independently troubleshoot faulty equipment and software.
Audiovisual operations for capture of simulated scenarios
Contact with external simulation experts and centers for activity and research coordination.
Tours and orientation of the center as needed

What you will need:
Bachelors Degree Nursing Required
Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a critical care settings.
Simulation experience preferred.
Minimum Formal Education Required: graduate of a state approved school of nursing. Foreign and out of state graduates must meet eligibility requirements for Illinois NCLEX. BSN preferred.
Strong clinical skills, familiarity with Laerdal, METI, and Gaumard preferred.
Teaching experience preferred.
