What you will be doing
Summary:
Under the general direction of Corporate Director or Sr. Manager, the Engineer II designs, implements, inspects, manages, evaluates, and supports various Material Handling solutions and implementations that form AmerisourceBergen's key business operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leads and/or assists the Project Teams with design, implementation, functional specifications, testing, issue tracking, change order management, and trend analysis
Leads and/or assists corporate and/or division MHE enhancement/replacement projects including, but not limited to identification, evaluation, estimates, budget tracking, purchase order management, design, implementation and testing plans, acceptance testing, documentation, delivery, deployment for project software / systems / hardware / equipment and project close out
Leads and/or assists various management teams with the identification, evaluation, implementation, and support of cost-savings initiatives
Leads and/or assists with training and support of automated Material Handling installations
Perform as a subject matter expert regarding the MHE-related systems and equipment deployed within the facilities
Leads initiatives to maintain consistency in design and operation between like facilities or equipment within the organization

Coordinates, measures, analyzes, evaluates, plans, communicates, and implements projected workflow improvements as well as cost reductions attributable to new or improved systems, upgrades and refreshes to ensure they are achievable
Prepares or oversees the preparation of preliminary user requirements as well as PLC support/modifications and documentation materials for all division systems
Develops proposals and evaluations that will provide the most appropriate solutions to solve business needs
Works closely with corporate/division management and MHE support teams to evaluate, plan, roll out and sustain best practice initiatives
Assists with business intelligence and visualization (SCADA) initiatives and projects
Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to support division processing
Performs related duties as assigned
The candidate requires a strong understanding of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) solutions
Normally requires some training in fields such as business, project management, administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations obtained through completion of a four-year bachelor's degree program, technical vocational training, or equivalent combination of experience and education
Normally requires a minimum of six (6) years directly related and progressively responsible experience
Key Skills and Expertise:
Knowledge of Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC software suites, logic, syntax, system interfaces, and networking required
Knowledge of Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC hardware component functions and troubleshooting required
Strong knowledge in Controls Network protocols such as ProfiBus, ProfiNet, Serial, or Ethernet is a must
Experience with SICK, Datalogic, or Cognex Scanners and associated software is necessary
Strong electrical background with 480 VAC, 120 VAC, and 24 VDC experience, and ability to read and interpret electrical schematics is a must
Ability to read and interpret mechanical installation drawings utilizing tools such as AutoCAD is required
Experience with Warehouse Control Systems and Automation Systems required
Project Management or People Management (direct reports or vendors) experience is preferred
Working knowledge of SCADA systems or other visualization software like GENESIS64 or Ignition is a plus
Experience with HMI tools such as FactoryTalk View or WinCC is a plus
Comprehensive knowledge of ASi networks and associated hardware is a plus
Demonstrated strong issue resolution, analytical and problem-solving skills, including debugging MHE, automation, conveyor and PLC vendor code and messaging
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate and modify vendor PLC messaging, conveyor software/hardware, business problems and apply applications knowledge to identify appropriate solutions
Strong familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite including, but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project required
