The Role at a Glance

This position will provide technical, subject matter expertise and direction on projects/initiatives for their assigned area(s) of responsibility. This position will function as an engineer in the Windows server compute engineering, delivery, and operations across the enterprise. S/he will design, implement, and support the underlying server compute hardware, software and configuration of Windows server computer operating systems, VMware virtualization and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) / Microsoft End Point Configuration Manager platforms. The position will provide engineering, delivery and operational needs for the underlying Dell standard compute and hyperconverged infrastructure.

S/he will partner across application, enterprise architecture, infrastructure and security teams in the planning and delivery of all compute configurations and advancements to support increased infrastructure hyper-convergence, virtualization, and automation. S/he are an advisor from a functional perspective with hands-on experience and a non-biased view of technology choices. S/he will be involved at the inception of a project, responsible for design creation and lifecycle management of server compute solutions. Additionally, s/he will support Managed Service Provider, Vendor/Manufacturer and Professional Services engagements and escalations.

What you’ll be doing

+ Provide technical skill and experience to configure, manage and maintain enterprise server computer hardware, software, configuration, and services including Dell MX7000, Dell vxRail server compute and hyperconverged infrastructure, Microsoft Windows Server 2019/2022 operating systems, Distributed File Systems (DFS) and Microsoft Software Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). Deliver and support infrastructure automation, “infrastructure as code”, using tools such as PowerShell and other scripting languages as appropriate.

+ Provide technical skill and experience to configure, manage and maintain server compute configuration standardization and benchmarking against industry standards and tools including CIS Benchmark or similar.

+ Provide Tier III proactive monitoring/ execution, maintenance, and changes of internal and customer facing compute infrastructure. This includes but is not limited to troubleshooting computer hardware, software, configuration and services. Deliver support and assistance with Application Performance issues and drive to resolution completely and accurately documenting all work activity in the organizations problem tracking system.

+ Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.

+ Champions and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.

+ Serves as a resource to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on more complex assignments/projects for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.

+ Identifies and recommends process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.

+ Configures, installs, maintains and performs more complex upgrades to server applications, hardware, and/or operating systems within their assigned area of responsibility. Serves as a resource to administer and maintain security of operating systems.

+ Identifies potential solutions for their assigned area of Infrastructure responsibility by understanding increasingly complex business/technical problems and opportunities. Serves as an escalation point for more complex issue resolution.

+ Communicates effectively with internal stakeholders and management.

What we’re looking for

+ 4 year/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

+ 3+ years of experience in Enterprise Windows server compute hardware, software, configuration and support that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position.

+ Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2019, 2022 and 2022 Core implementation and support.

+ Experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) / Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.

+ Experience VMWare virtualization including Vcenter, Vsphere and VCF (VMware Cloud Foundation).

+ Experience with Dell computer platforms including hardware and software.

+ Understanding of LAN/WAN/VLAN , TCP/IP, UDP internetworking.

The pay range for this position is $67,000 – $120,700 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
