Email a Friend Save Save Apply Now Position Summary: Performs a variety of office support functions necessary to ensure the efficient and courteous operation of the Sleep Disorders Center. Manage all facets of the patient referral process. The scope of the referral process begins with receipt from the provider through to the communication with the patient. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, obtaining pre-certification or prior authorizations, scheduling sleep testing visit, completion of documentation with the electronic medical record (EMR) and communicating referral information to referring offices and to the patient. Qualifications: CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA) within 30 days. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 1-3 years of experience in/with Clinical and clerical experience in a physician office, computer knowldege, detail oriented and have the ability to work with a wide variety of people preferred. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Required English Skills Basic reading skills Basic writing skills Basic oral skills Other: Good spelling skills. Communication Skills Ability to respond appropriately to customer/co-workerInteraction with a wide variety of people. Maintain confidential information. Ability to communicate only the facts to recipients or to decline to reveal information. Ability to project a professional, friendly, helpful demeanor. Computer Skills Intermediate computer knowledge: Ability to troubleshoot minor problems within a Windows OS, operates within a network environment, uses spreadsheet, database, word processing and internet applications proficiently. Learns new applications without difficulty and is able to aid others in immediate work area with computer questions.MS Office AppsWeb Browser Essential Functions:

+ Schedules/reschedules patient appointments, clarifying physician’s orders when necessary.

+ Assists in confirming insurance verification/prior-authorization requirements and patient financial responsibility.

+ Reviews and verifies departmental referrals and orders for sleep testing &/or consults.

+ Screens incoming calls appropriately, working closely with local leadership to expedite callers and requests for information.

+ Performs basic office management functions and secretarial duties for Manager/Supervisor of department to maintain cohesiveness in day-to-day office functions and operations.

+ Works autonomously and efficiently with minimal direction.

+ Answers phones in accordance with customer service standards and directs calls to appropriate person

+ Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

+ Communicate with patients in a professional caring manner.

+ Demonstrates proficiency in use of electronic medical records.

+ Ensures accurate and timely responses to all referral requests.

+ Follows all applicable department and practice policies and procedures

+ Performs other related duties as assigned.

+ Ensure complete and accurate registration, including patient demographic and current insurance information.

+ Compose routine and general correspondence in accordance with established office procedures for clinical services.

+ Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

+ Enters complete and accurate data into computer system regarding information on the patient, exam, physician and the like.

+ Files and maintains physical files and supporting documentation.

+ Maintains a good working relationship with referring physicians and specialist’s office staff. Facilitating these doctors’ offices with anything they need, including dealing with patients, or information needed from the facility.

+ Accurately schedules appointments for a variety of exams. Adjusts schedule as necessary to accommodate emergent situations and/or cancellations. Discuss preparations with patient prior to exam.

+ Works with clients/referral center on precertification, authorization and clinical documentation required by insurance companies to authorized sleep testing procedure.
