IFF Health Sciences is the industry leader in probiotic and microbiome innovation. We are seeking a Lead Product Development Scientist to advance our understanding of the human microbiome with a focus on translating that knowledge into commercial ready products. Candidates will have an impressive track record in end-to-end innovation, creating new products that leverage microbiome science to improve human health and wellness. The role involves a combination of scientific research, innovative foresight, and market understanding. The candidate will bridge the gap between scientific discovery and consumer products, partnering to bring novel microbiome solutions to our customers that are scientifically sound and meet consumer expectations and regulatory requirements.


BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

- PhD, MD, or MD/PhD are preferred, or equivalent advanced degree in the biological sciences.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in industry, preferably in food and dietary supplements, pharmaceutical, and/or biotech.
- The candidate should have a strong background in translational medicine, with preferred experience in human microbiome science, including extensive knowledge of in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo studies.
- Strong scientific background and experimental experience in bioanalytical data interpretation and in applying omics technologies (e.g., proteomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics and lipidomics).
- Working knowledge of biomarker and diagnostic technologies and techniques.
- Experience translating marketing, consumer, customer, and other business relevant data.
- Proven record of success in collaborating across technical, marketing, and commercial teams to bring innovative value propositions to life.


Job Requirements

 

- Integrate Health Sciences R&D knowledge and findings with consumer and market insights to inform and advance early-stage innovation assets from discovery into commercial development and launch.
- Understand customer demands and consumer trends in the health and wellness industry to identify gaps in the market and propose genuine opportunities for new R&D initiatives.
- Partner with R&D Director, Chief Medical Officer and Commercial Leaders to define 3-year discovery and development Innovation Roadmap.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define new product concepts and robust project plans incorporating, production, formulation, safety and regulation aspects.
- Design a translational science framework to accelerate and de-risk substantiating innovation candidates in the clinic. Partner with Discovery and Clinical Science teams to implement and maintain the translational framework across projects.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Innovation team to advise on Investigator Initiated Studies and ex-tract opportunities for internalization and subsequent product development.
- Advances IFF's market position as scientific subject matter expert in MicrobiomeScience. Establishing IFF Health R&D as a global leader in microbiome science and probiotic clinical science for customers and partners.
- Raise cross-site collaboration, team mentality, site culture and identity, fostering innovation amongst Health Sciences BU and R&D teams. Identify opportunities for agility and efficiency in processes across the organization.
