Position Highlights:
Position: Manager, Accounting
Location: 3040 Salt Creek Lane, Arlington Heights, IL
Full Time
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am- 4:30pm
Required Travel: potential visits to other corporate sites (with notice)

Responsible for grants management and accounting duties, overseeing the financial operations related to Research grants (Federal, Fed Sub, Industry, Private Foundations and internally funded), Gifts (Special Purpose and Designated Funds), Foundations, and other programs from theState and City of Chicago funding. Responsible for directing the activities of general accounting area for specific entities or areas assigned. Also responsible for facilitating Quarterly Financial Reporting and coordination of annual external PBC Audit.

What you will do:
General Accounting Responsibilities:
Monitor grant expenditures and maintain records of use of funds
Review and audit NIH Federal direct sponsor reimbursement requests and monitoring federal and sub recipient expenditures
Ensure compliance with grants and foundation guidelines , regulations and reporting requirements, and terms and conditions of awards
Work closely with grant managers to monitor F & A ( allowable costs) and Fringe Benefits rate agreement are being followed.
Lead the grant Uniform Guidance audit and Federal Clearing House and GATA ( ILL Grant Accountability and Transparency Act ) filings.
Assist the Accounting Director in accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements for assigned entities and GL categories within Endeavor Health
Review and approves journal entries ,account reconciliations and reports prepared by accountants
Review financial records in preparation of internal and external financial statements for Endeavor Research Institute , Special Purpose, Foundation and Home Health entities
Review and assists on preparation of FSR and or other regulatory reports , year-end Audit , A133 Audit and other Special program grant.
Assist in the Endeavor Health Quartely Financial Reporting submission
Assist in the YE Audit and managing the PBC list
Review all System AP & PO accruals for month-end close.
Collaborate with Supply Chain and Accounts Payable in identifying solutions to current Workday issues.
Provide guidance and training to staff members involved in the grants and foundation accounting
Supervision and training of assigned accountants in performance of their duties for optimum outcomes is also required.
Perform other duties as assigned

Management Responsibilities
In consultation with the Director of Accounting, is responsible for developing department goals and objectives, as well as business plans required to achieve those goals.
Responsible for effectively managing the performance of the department's human resources. Interviews, hires, orients, trains, develops, and evaluates the performances of and, when necessary, disciplines and/or discharges department personnel. Provides direction, as necessary, to staff regarding sensitive and/or complex work, related problems, resolves complaints and responds to inquiries regarding department operations. Manages a team of 4-6 accountants.
Acts as liaison between the general accounting area, Research, and other other departments in resolving complex, confidential or technical problems, providing financial and operational information and assistance, and coordinating a variety of accounting related activities.

What you will need:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum 5-10 years' experience in accounting/finance.
Minimum 5 years in management.
Strong knowledge of grant accounting principle, including Uniform Guidance and other relevant regulations.
Have a comprehensive knowledge of GAAP
Possessstrong communication, organizational, technology and leadership skills
Extensive experience with an ERP, Workday preferred
Workday Grant work stream Experience is a PLUS
Proficiency with Excel and/or other spreadsheet and database applications is required
