Description:

The Human Resource Associate provides professional, responsible, and complex administrative support for the face-paced, high volume HR department that supports all units of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for the preparation and processing of all employment activities related to hiring exempt and non-exempt employees to ensure compliance with University Policy and Rules, and State Universities Civil Service Statute and Rules.
Advise hiring managers before, during, and after the recruitment process.
Review candidate applications/resumes and participate on select search committees,
Manage the hiring of extra help employees; review and qualify applicants, monitor selection process to include assessing candidate qualifications and make recommendations to departments.
Effectively keep managers informed of employee hours to ensure that the 900-hour maximums are not exceeded.
Assist with hiring and processing students and graduate assistants.
Counsel candidates and current employees in matters pertaining to employment, promotions, layoffs, etc.
Assist departments with development of retention initiatives.
Create and edit job descriptions and work closely with hiring managers and HR Compensation to ensure that Job Descriptions are current. Enter Probationary Evaluations and JDs in HRFE.
Assist with development of training initiatives.
Initiate, review and approve transactions through the campus Human Resource Information Systems (HRFE, JDXpert, Cornerstone, Banner) Serve as a backup to maintain phone book, log data and maintain information via the departmental HR Web.
Assists in the coordination of VCAS employee events and programs; provide administrative assistance, project coordination, and other activities.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration or a field closely related to the position.
Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties.
