Description:

The Business Manager will be responsible for providing administrative support for the Office of Research. This position will be responsible for the maintaining, organizing, and carrying out administrative and financial functions directly related to day-today activities of the office.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Ibuy review and approval for Office of Research and Oral Biology.
Will work with the accounting associate doing post-award activities such as reviewing grant encumbrances, tracking balances on Purchase Orders (PO) reviewing invoicing, calling vendors and closing open PO's when necessary.
Will also assist with financial reconciliation as needed. Prepare journal voucher transactions related to activity with the encumbrances and open PO's.
Will prepare/manage/reconcile and track P-Card and T-Card transactions for the Office of Research and Oral Biology following UIC policies and procedures.
Assist in departmental reporting activities for Office of Research and Oral Biology. Compiles and assembles data, generates and/or prepares administrative reports such as, biennial inventory/Fabweb, Effort reporting, Activity reporting, and other reporting as assigned.
Coordinates logistical planning for meetings and events, preparing agendas, travel arrangements, travel reimbursements, and general reimbursements for the Office of Research and Oral Biology.
Obtain room reservations and room set-up for events.
Submitting office supply orders, IT, and phone requisitions for the Office of Research and Oral Biology.
Will setup/update/monitor/ erminate PI accounts for the Biological Resource Laboratory (BRL) and Research Resource Center (RRC).
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

1. A. Bachelor's degree in accountancy, business administration, management, or a closely related field.

OR

B. Three (3) years (36 months) of work experience in accounting, business administration, fiscal management, or closely related experience.

OR

C. A combination of such education and/or work experience totaling three (3) years (36 months), as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
60 semester hours or an Associate's Degree equals eighteen months (18 months)
90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
