What you will be doing

Under broad administrative direction of the Vice President Strategic Accounts - ION, uses advanced consultative and strategic sales approach and tactics to grow penetration of SPS, and GPO's solutions to existing (and to-be-prospected) strategic and highly integrated, national, and regional customers in the Community Oncology business segment. This role promotes and delivers targeted GPO technology, and professional services solutions to not only retain/renew existing customers but also to extend customer share of spend in existing customers and to win new strategic account business. This role supports the Sales Directors, Regional Sales Account Managers and Strategic Account Managers, in promoting the implementations and use of strategic business plans within key accounts in the Community Oncology space.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops a business plan that represents the opportunity and process by which each strategic account segment will achieve maximum sales and profitability in support of the business strategy.
Acts as the primary executive contact.
Executes strategic and consultative sales approach and tactics to grow penetration of ION and products and solutions to existing (and to-be-prospected) strategic and highly integrated, national, and regional customers in the GPO segment based on existing customer's business needs to achieve established business objectives.
Gathers information, analyzes, and develops strategies concerning dynamics that may affect area of responsibility, such as changes in customer ownership, new affiliations, current market share and targets of opportunities for new growth, customers' changing requirements, competitor strengths and weaknesses, and continually communicates these strategies internally using updates to written business plans and ongoing business communication.
Monitors and analyzes reports and data which are used consistently through /SPS for measuring profitable growth of sales and develops and implements/shifts strategies and removes barriers to ensure continued success of that growth.
Works directly with subject matter experts during the sales process to execute expansion and maintenance strategies using company solutions to address customer specific needs identified during the explore phase; subject matter expectations include, ION, Oncology Supply, AmerisourceBergen (Cencora), corporate and regional associates.
Oversees sales, legal, accounting, reporting and analysis, drawing on other SPS and Cencora resources.
Delivers professional presentations to existing strategic customers.
Utilizes SPS and ION Reporting Tools to expand current customer business.
Assertively applies strategic retention and expansion strategies within current customers to enhance account performance (e.g., probability of renewal, technology and professional services penetration, and distribution contract compliance).
Must be willing to work extended hours, as needed, to meet sales objectives.
Must be willing to travel extensively within selected geographic territory (including overnight travel); travels to events such as conferences, national and regional sales meetings.
Performs related duties as assigned.

What your background should look like

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations obtained through completion of a four (4) year bachelor's degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education. Normally requires a minimum of six (6) plus years directly related and progressively responsible animal health or healthcare experience, including experience at the management level.

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Thorough knowledge of the GPO or healthcare industry
Thorough knowledge of & ION products, programs, technology, and services
Working knowledge of cost accounting
Working knowledge of sales management, key account management, sales planning and goal setting, successful strategic and consultative selling techniques, and related information
Ability to direct activities of others, including coaching, training, guiding, developing, and managing
Ability to interpret financial data of healthcare industry and develop successful strategies to deal with financial issues that are identified
