Join Our Team as a Materials Engineer!
Are you passionate about metallurgy? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Analytical Services function. As a Materials Engineer, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.
As part of the Analytical Services team, you will be working in a fast-moving Lean Processing System (LPS) environment, analyzing metal samples from incoming Inspections or from various Product divisions, including Regional centers, for conformance to technical specifications, standards, and bulletins. The work includes solving problems related to performance, processing or selection of metals and alloys. Both routine and project type work are required. In this position you will be working with time constraints to document test results using laboratory equipment. Occasional travel to Suppliers and training may be required. This position reports to the Assistant Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze, select, or recommend materials for new or existing products or products returned from the field
Recommend or use heat treating or metal joining processes for new or existing products
Analyze metal fabrication problems pertaining to materials, tooling, or processes
Prepare samples for the optical or scanning electron microscopes and then complete the examination
Use Rockwell, Brinell, Knoop and Tukon Hardness testing equipment
Work with hourly personnel and supervision at all levels, product engineers, sales, field service and Global Supply Specialist including Suppliers to inform, educate and resolve product issues
Use a computer to analyze and document tests test data, and formalize standard procedures
Provide assistance, guidance and problem-solving results to other departments and regional centers
Instruct others in the field of introductory Metallurgy as part of the S&C Continuous Improvement Institute
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Work on multiple projects simultaneously and able to work well with others in an LPS team environment
Create technical reports and method development procedures or standard work to be reviewed by peers or department leadership.
What you'll Need To Succeed:
Job Requirements ( To select this job at a minimum you must have the following)
Bachelor of Science in Material Science and Engineering
Some experience in a metal fabrication facility and computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
Knowledge of heat treatment processes, metal finishing processes such as plating and painting, powder metallurgy, welding, brazing, soldering, ferrous and nonferrous metals, casting processes, cast metals and mechanical and physical testing of metals and alloys
1-3 years of experience as a Materials Engineer, Materials Specialist, Metallurgist, or related field.
Preferred:
Capable of operating instrument in the laboratory including carbon, sulfur analyzer, X-ray systems for analysis metals, accelerated corrosion testing, metallurgical mounting including microscopy, the... For full info follow application link.
