As a Utility Clerk, your primary responsibility will be to provide essential support to our operations. You will play a crucial role in the safe transportation of train and engine crews, contribute to the maintenance of vehicles, perform janitorial tasks, and handle various clerical duties. By fulfilling these vital tasks, you will enable our dedicated crews to serve our valued Union Pacific customers across North America. Accountabilities
Adhere to company and industry safety regulations, protocols, and procedures when transporting crews.
Provide clerical support as required, including ordering and distributing supplies to crews, loading printer paper and ribbons, posting bulletins and notices, and preparing and distributing reports.
Operate office equipment and machinery to facilitate smooth workflow and efficient operations.
Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by superiors.
Qualifications - Required
Applicants must have reached the age of 18 or above.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information to coworkers and supervisors.
Demonstrated experience in comprehending and following instructions, including but not limited to operating and safety rules, bulletins, special instructions, and federal regulatory documents.
Qualifications - Preferred
Proficiency in using computers and basic software applications.
Willing to work on-call, overtime, various shifts, 7 days a week, as well as weekends and holidays
Physical Requirements
Visual Ability: Must have normal color vision, enabling the detection and interpretation of various visual color signals and displays.
Work Conditions
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring company sponsorship.
Compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) regulations, including wearing safety glasses, safety boots, hard hats, and hearing protection as required by the company
Capability and willingness to work in close proximity to large equipment such as railcars, locomotives, and cranes
Travel obligations: Driving a vehicle for up to 130-150 miles per day, with the remainder of the working time spent indoors
Subject to the rules and regulations of the Transportation Communications International Union (TCU)
