This is an opportunity for you to join the JCFS Chicago HIAS Team! HIAS Immigration & Citizenship's Housing Specialist finds safe and appropriate housing for refugees, Ukrainian parolees, and other eligible clients; works with staff and volunteers to prepare housing in advance of arrivals; and troubleshoots challenges between tenants and landlords as necessary.
Responsibilities
Build relationships with landlords; provide education on the supports provided to newly arriving refugees and/or parolees by JCFS Chicago.
Identify and secure safe and appropriate housing for refugees and This includes walking through neighborhoods, looking at online listings, and liaising with partners.
Act as the point of contact for US Tie cases as it relates to arranging housing for new arrivals.
Set up utilities and complete housing safety check list on behalf of
Work with the Chicago Furniture Bank to select and arrange furniture deliveries for clients.
Work with staff and/or volunteers to set up housing before the clients' arrival. This includes routine cleaning of the space, gathering of all necessary household items, and being on site to set up furniture and household items, etc.
Contact landlords with any housing issues and follow up until issues are
Complete financial and case management reports accurately and in a timely
Work with administrative staff to submit check requests monthly to ensure clients' rent is paid in full and in a timely manner.
Work with case managers to ensure that clients know how to pay their own rent when the time comes.
Connect and secure alternative temporary housing, shelter and Airbnb.
Coordinate participants with eviction notices to resources and Rental assistance.
Requirements
Professional experience working in affordable housing and/or with vulnerable populations preferred.
Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills; ability to assess and respond to changing realities appropriately and in a timely manner.
Ability to manage multiple demands and deadlines with
Strong ability to work independently, remain focused, productive, and accomplish goals in a challenging, fluid and sometimes unpredictable environment.
Strong team player who demonstrates commitment and the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members and volunteers.
Excellent networking
Proficiency with basic computer
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekend and evening hours when
Access to a vehicle to transport items to meet clients'

Compensation:The minimum compensation for this position is $40,000 annually.
