Job Description
Basic Function:
To perform routine factory work requiring essential casting knowledge and skills. The employee is responsible for getting the casting out of the sand after poured and cooled. Employee is responsible for the smooth, clean and organized upkeep of the foundry/shakeout area. This includes all tools, castings, metal, chills, boards, and sand. All castings must be handled with the utmost of care. The operator shall insure all melts are correct and kept together, along with any documents with them. Operator will assist in the pour process and will train and assist with wheelebrate, knock-out, and sandblasting operation. Operator will go through overview training to begin learning the Fluid Bed process.
Responsibilities:
Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and the proper reporting of processed quantities.
Wear proper safety equipment; keep work area clean and safe at all times.
Understand customer requirements, our companies internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, the impact they have on your job and demonstrate ability to deliver quality & efficient workmanship.
Review & inspect all material being used, building self-inspection into everything you make/process.
Complete, date and sign-off on all routing information & records associated with job responsibilities.
Perform job tasks in an efficient manner according to given standards
Get castings out of sand without damaging castings.
Keep all paperwork together with castings and sending everything to the next stage.
Keep all metal segregated with melts poured; understand melt contamination and their role to prevent
Follow and understand all procedures related to doing the job. (M6 documents) Reference work instructions prior to each job being started
Communicate any problems to supervisors.
Keep all tools well maintained and organized to do a proper job safely.
Reclaim, sort, organize & place back into inventory all chills; perform the reclaim sand process
Maintain equipment; note preventative maintenance needed, responsible for filter & screen cleaning, start-up and shut-down of equipment
Train & learn to safely operate Sand Blast machine, knockout & shakeout machines; wheelebrator, overhead cranes, fluid bed, forklift, skidsteer.
Assist team in pouring of the daily foundry melts when needed
Skills:
Forklift/Skidsteer operations (Be able to take and pass forklift certifications)
Operate overhead crane/Sandblast machine & fluid bed
Good communication skills
Eductiona/Training/Experience:
On-the-job training provided working alongside a certified employee until fully trained.
