EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Director - Airline Technical Operations in our Hughes Network Systems division. This position will provide leadership and guidance of the technical operations activity for Hughes In-Flight Connectivity products being installed and operated on customer aircraft. This position is a customer-facing technical operations leader who will ensure continued airworthiness, high availability, and industry-leading reliability. This role must balance strategic planning as well as tactical execution. This position can be located in either Germantown, MD or Lisle, IL.

Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership and guidance to customer and maintenance personnel for installing and operating the Hughes IFEC system.
Recruit, hire, and lead a top-tier technical support team for multiple customers and provide coaching, training, and performance evaluations for all directed personnel.
Develop and create all documentation for operational procedures applicable to maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
Working with the technical development team, establish requirements for all operational systems and tools to be used by internal teams and customers.
Lead the development of internal, customer, and supplier training material to support system installation and maintenance.
Manage all material and logistics flows (forward and reverse) from suppliers, 3rd party logistics companies, and customers.
Identify and support the implementation of process improvements at MROs, customer sites, third-party suppliers, and within Hughes.
Work closely with MROs and customer stakeholders to maintain, manage, and track status of all operational actions across multiple customer fleets.
Create the development of preventive maintenance and reliability programs.
Ensure Hughes and its subcontractors adhere to all applicable regulations to ensure safety and adherence to policy and regulation.
Ensure all maintenance activities align with company policies and industry best practices.
Drive and energy to influence and adapt to change in a "start-up environment".
Use independent judgment to ensure projects/assignments are completed accurately and on time.
Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in aviation management, engineering or related field.
8+ years of experience leading a team.
Previous experience in airline maintenance and technical operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
MS in Aeronautical, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration.
Exceptional customer facing skills.
Excellent communication and time-management skills
Strong technical (IT and network systems) acumen with satellite communications systems and networks.
Technical acumen and experience related to IFEC systems
In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations (FAA or equivalent) and industry standards.
Strong technical leadership and team management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using MCC software and tools.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Project management experience is a plus
Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
