Title: Sr. Food Scientist

 

Job Description: Perform formula commercialization, ingredient substitution, clean label formulations and adapting the formulations in food manufacturing lines. Provide technical support to customers on product information, process capability, and formulations. Present initial feasibility factors of manufacturing by reviewing the R&D process flow including process feasibility, FDA compliance, and functionality of ingredients. Utilize quality improvement methodology like DMAIC to develop successful and feasible food products. Determine manufacturing process flow for the food product. Organizing and managing production trials, assessing the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters of the food product, and determining the action items to make the future productions successful. Record and document all the critical parameters that will help in commercializing the product. Innovate and maintain extensive R&D process flow for new and existing customers.  ****Work is at the Employer's headquarter office located at 238 Tubeway Drive, Carol Stream, IL 60188 with no travel involved.

 

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Process Engineering, or closely related field plus 1 year of experience in occupation related to Food Scientist.  Must possess 1 year of experience in the following: Developing clean label food products without the use of chemical preservatives in accordance with FDA regulations; Conceptualizing and creating acidified food and condiment products per 21 CFR Part 114 from the Code of Federal Regulations; Replacing chemical preservatives with natural additives to food products; Creating food products in compliance with (FSPCA) Food Safety Preventive Controls standards; Organizing safety and manufacturing records in compliance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) regulations; Calculating mass balance equations to obtain the yield, cycle time, and cost reduction on food products; Performing food consistency measurements using a Bostwick Consistometer or Brookfield Viscometer; Taking acidity measurements using a pH Potentiometer; Creating nutritional labels using a nutrition label software such as Recipal or Formulator.
