Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer

Summary

The Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for overseeing supplier development, monitoring & improving supplier performance, establishing green channel supplier base and leading supplier quality audits. The person in this role must be knowledgeable in a variety of product commodities and previous experience with new part development (NPD) is preferred. This position will be required to travel nationally and internationally 25 – 40%. The position can be based hybrid in the following locations: Charlotte, NC, Raleigh, NC, Chicago, IL, Milwaukee/Waukesha, WI and Yellow Springs, OH.

Job Responsibilities:

+ Responsible for monitoring & improving supplier performance

+ Responsible for supplier manufacturing process improvement with emphasis on quality and on time delivery to original agreed to purchase order receipt dates.

+ Exercising Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) knowledge.

+ Responsible for inspection; accepting and rejecting of the products.

+ Other responsibilities are as follows, but not limited to:

+ Final inspection and testing of finished products

+ Working knowledge of product specifications and drawings. (Knowledge of GD&T a plus.)

+ On-site Inspection at supplier & receiving inspection

+ Process inspection

+ Uses measuring instruments

+ Ensure product meets requirements

+ Analyzes customer complaints and implement Corrective and Preventive actions. – Data capturing, consolidation, analysis and plan for improvements on a regular basis.

+ Ensures defect free products to customers.

+ Problem analysis and establish root cause, plan and implement CAPA.

+ Improves and maintain QMS within the plant & Xylem Supplier base.

+ Implement Supplier Quality system, & impart training down the line as and when required

+ To Provide technical assistance and advice to Project Team on inspection levels, materials testing Certification and Handover Documentation Lead and co-ordinate the development and application of Criticality Assessment criteria and Project Quality Programs

Minimum Qualifications:

+ B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or DME with additional 2 years’ experience than desired.

+ 4+ years’ experience in a quality role.

+ ISO Audit Quality Certification(s), Six Sigma certifications are preferred

+ Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills

+ Working knowledge of ISO 9001, Six Sigma and/or other quality systems

+ Working knowledge of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

+ Work independently and proactively; ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines

+ Accountability and self-management

+ Accuracy in work

+ Problem solving capabilities

+ Gently assertive, flexible and adaptable

+ Quality Audit processes, procedure and records

SALARY: The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range. At Xylem we offer a competitive compensation package with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.

Salary range:

$70,500.00 – $126,500.00
