Role Definition

Drivetrain Components has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer position within the Drivetrain Test Engineering team located in East Peoria, Illinois. This position will be responsible for leading current production testing across all KK test activities including transmission, final drives, brakes, and axles. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting programs across drivetrain components to achieve PQVC targets. Incumbent will interface directly with multiple teams including Engineering, Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, Product Change Control and Safety. The Manufacturing Engineer role is a resource within the Test Engineering Team that supports end of line test and repair.

Responsibilities

+ Ensure proper functionality for drivetrain products within facility.

+ Provide design inputs for test systems for both production and prototype

+ Create project plans and timelines and project scoping and costing

+ Conduct regular updates and gate reviews to communicate and coordinate activities

+ Validation of test system design through Gage R&R testing

+ Ensure common test methods are used and carried forward into future test solutions:

+ Work with vendors to outsource the design of the test system if required

+ Identifying and executing subsequent testing as needed

+ Interface closely with other teams such as Manufacturing, Electric drive, Product Design.

Degree or equivalent experience desired

Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Judgment and Decision Making: Level Working Knowledge

Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.

Lean Manufacturing: Level Working Knowledge

Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.

Manufacturing Equipment: Level Working Knowledge

Knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing; ability to safely operate, maintain, update and store them.

Manufacturing Processes: Level Extensive Experience

Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.

Manufacturing Safety: Level Extensive Experience

Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.

Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Level Extensive Experience

Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.

Problem Management Process – MFG: Level Extensive Experience

Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution.
