Role Summary:

The Order Engineer prepares and reviews Engineering data, performs engineering studies and related calculations, coordinates cross-functional activities with other Flowserve departments (internal and external) and establishes schedules for fulfillment of standard and custom pump orders.

The Order Engineering team is chartered with providing the most accurate and thorough engineering data for customer orders (e.g., Bills of Materials, manufacturing process data and capabilities, and general alignment to Flowserve standards and customer-requested specifications).

Order Engineers are expected to take the lead in ensuring that orders are understood, analyzed, scheduled, and released into Flowserve’s production process in the best and most efficient manner possible. Order engineers provide logistical, technical, and operational support to the local site, customers, warranty, and closely collaborate with sister sites globally, but with focus on Madrid, Brussels, Chesapeake, and Bangalore.

Requirements:

+ Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or Engineering Technology.

+ Strong knowledge and use of CAD software with emphasis on 3d model creation from 2D drawings.

+ Demonstrated self-starter attitude with the ability for seeing efforts to completion.

+ Academic knowledge of mechanical design principles including fluid flow, mechanics of material, drawing and machining practices.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills including proficiency with MS Office products.

+ Demonstrated ability for attention to detail, meeting of due dates, advanced organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

+ Demonstrated analytical capability to evaluate machinery form, fit, and function in areas such as strength and thermal loading, bolt, gasket, and bearing specification and approval, and recommendation with analysis of test data and instrumentation outputs.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

+ 3 years prior experience with rotating Equipment engineering, especially in the pump industry and related sectors however, new engineering graduates will be considered.

+ Demonstrated practical (hands-on) knowledge of mechanical design principles including fluid flow, mechanics of material, drawing and machining practices.

+ Detailed production Drawings and Manufacturing instructions as required for customer components and “engineered-to-order” products, as assigned.

+ Basic understanding of machining and quality principles such as Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), measurement techniques, and various manual and CNC metal cutting processes.

+ Lean Certification or 2 years in Lean-related activities.
