User Experience Group Leader

Job Description

The User Experience Group Leader leads the development of UL’s customer-facing applications, corporate applications, and portals. Ensures delivery of customized information, resources, and self-service applications to a global audience. Maintains UL’s intranet, extranets, and business systems and plays a critical role in the design and implementation of new features. Supports project managers, developers, and business analysts with enhancing current resources. Works with various technical information teams to understand technology limitations and how implementation decisions impact user experience in terms of browser compatibility, accessibility, internalization, usability and performance.

+ Provides service management leadership.

+ Leads the overall usability and functionality of applications, customer portals, and employee portals.

+ Develops CSS standards, UX strategy, recommendations across intranet and extranet environments encompassing portal frameworks, and incorporates RIA elements when prudent.

+ Gathers requirements by analyzing target audience, objectives, user needs, and business needs.

+ Develops user scenarios, navigational structures, sitemaps, user/task flows, and functional templates.

+ Designs and builds web pages using the latest technologies and products (such as HTML, CS2, JavaScript, ActionScript, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Visio, XML, AJAX or XSLT).

+ Conducts usability testing, design reviews, style guideline development, and presentations on style standards and usability heuristics.

+ Designs applications and portals while adhering to existing brand and UX standards. Tests for cross-browser compatibility.

+ Uses knowledge of Section 508 accessibility compliance when applicable.

+ Assists development teams troubleshoot and fix UI problems.

+ Creates graphical prototypes to present concepts.

+ Collaborates with internal project teams to ensure that an explicit user experience is maintained throughout project execution.

+ Considers navigation and information architecture as it applies to solutions.

+ Creates user interface design within established architectural and product standards.

+ Identifies new projects and creates detailed project cost estimates, plans, and schedules.

+ Assists staff in web site maintenance, design, and development for existing sites and applications.

+ Guides content creators/publishers and developers in usability best practices and GUI standards.

+ University degree in HCI, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, or Information Technology or a related discipline plus general 5+ years of directly related experience.

+ ITIL certification a plus.

+ Good understanding of the (enterprise) software lifecycle and the role of UX/UI design throughout the software life cycle.

+ Evidence of continuing education in fields of usability and user-centered design.

+ A background in Human Factors, User-Centered Design, Cognitive Psychology, Information Architecture, or a similar field.

+ Total Rewards: The salary range for this position is $120,000-$140,000 of the salary range and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.

All employees at UL Solutions are eligible for annual bonus compensation.? The target for this position is 20% of the base salary offered. Employees are eligible for health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental & financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country, for the relevant position level.??

We also provide employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).?
