Job Summary:
Northwestern University Mesulam Center for Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer's Disease is offering a one-year postgraduate social work fellowship dedicated to the education and training of social work professionals who are interested in developing a strong knowledge base of dementia disorders, enhancing clinical skills with persons living with neurocognitive disorders and their families, engaging in collaborations with underrepresented minority communities and expanding their ability to conduct research.
We are seeking an exceptional social worker who demonstrates a pronounced interest in working with persons with neurocognitive disorders and their families as well as an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.The goal of this fellowship is to provide a solid foundation for social workers who will become leaders in this field.
The Social Work Fellowship in Neurocognitive Disorders is open to Social Workers with Master's or Doctoral degrees and falls under the Mesulam Center for Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer's Disease, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.The Fellow will work closely with members of the Social Work Team within the Center.We will provide the Fellow with ongoing clinical supervision by licensed clinical social workers with extensive expertise working with persons living with dementia and their families.
Specific Responsibilities:
Attend and fully participate in the Social Work Fellowship in Neurocognitive Disorders Seminar Series.Demonstrate integration of the material in clinical work, presentations, community engagement and research.
Participate in psychosocial research programs such as: 1) Caregiver support group co-facilitation, 2) The Buddy Program pairint first year medical students, persons living with dementia and their families and 3) PPA psychosocial interventions.Assist with data management and analysis, communication with participants.
Participate in the interdisciplinary healthcare team of the Neurobehavior and Memory Clinic and the Northwestern Alzheimer's Disease Research Center Clinical Core.Formulate psychosocial assessments and provide education, counseling and linkage to appropriate community services to persons living with dementia and their families.
Participate in developing and carrying out research project.Present findings at the annual Alzheimer day.Complete a scholarly paper.
Participate in the coordination and planning of major annual educational events including Alzheimer Day.
Develop collaborative community relationships with health and social service agencies with special emphasis on underrepresented minority communities.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in social work or related field.
Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in working clinically with persons living with neurocognitive disorders and their families.
Demonstrated interest in developing research skills.

MEETS DE - Ability to work accurately with interruptions, to meet deadlines;
COMP - Good computer skills with experience in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in social work, licensed clinical social worker (LCSW)
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
Clinical counseling skills with individuals, families and groups.
Skilled in research methods.
Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
Experience working with diverse communities/demonstrated cultural competence.
Conference planning experience.
Ability to work flexibly in a multidisciplinary environment
Target hiring range for this position will be between $18.42-$25.90 per hour.Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
