About the Department

The Center for the Economics of Human Development (CEHD) brings together top-tier researchers to conduct and disseminate rigorous interdisciplinary research that identifies and explores the conditions under which people develop the skills necessary to thrive in society and achieve their fullest potential. CEHD's research is guided by Nobel Laureate Professor James J. Heckman and includes a comprehensive array of interrelated projects and initiatives which promote a thorough empirical understanding of human flourishing. Unifying this research is an evolving idea that capacities and skills acquired over the lifecycle, starting at conception, transform many aspects of the life course at all stages, ranging from employment and earning prospects to overall health.

Job Summary

The job manages academic, research, clinical or administrative programs of the University.

The PMRC will coordinate a series of speaker events, workshops, and conferences aimed at understanding fertility decline and its socioeconomic impacts. They will also facilitate collaboration among researchers, prepare and disseminate research materials, manage project timelines, and maintain records of events and research findings, ensuring effective execution of the initiative's activities. The PMRC may support data analysis and contribute to academic papers.

Responsibilities
  • Organize and manage speaker series, workshops, and conferences in Chicago and Budapest. Coordinate and oversee logistics for events, including scheduling, communication, and budgeting.
  • Conduct literature reviews and support the creation of academic papers and presentations. Support data analysis and synthesis of research outcomes.
  • Ensure active and regular collaboration across research affiliate members. This can take many forms - facilitating exchange of academic papers, identifying new sources of data, and scheduling non-academic speakers for workshops to add diverse viewpoints.
  • Draft memos and reports, and lead dissemination of research materials.
  • Manage project timelines and ensure adherence to deadlines. Maintain detailed records of events, discussions, and research findings.
  • Liaise with CEHD and FRAMECON to ensure smooth execution of the initiative.
  • Sets and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.
  • Has moderate/high levels of interactions with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher degree in a major such as economics, sociology, demography, or a related field.

Experience:
  • Coursework in economics, child development, sociology, or public policy research.
  • Experience with project development, organization, and execution.

Preferred Competencies
  • Knowledge of economics, theories of human development, and developmental research.
