Job Summary

The University of Chicago is seeking a Senior Salesforce Application Administrator is to maintain the integrity, configuration, and support of our customer relationship management (CRM) system and related applications through technical and advancement systems best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Supports environment configurations for Salesforce managed package, Ascend.
  • Works with business partners and Salesforce developers to assist in the design and implementation of Ascend workflows and processes.
  • Coordinates sandbox seeding with other Salesforce admins to ensure non-production data requirements are being satisfied.
  • Assists in resolution of Tier 3 operational support issues.
  • Maintains Ascend customizations within Lightning components and Process Builder.
  • Executes data-related requests including data imports and ad hoc changes using Data Loader.
  • Works with other Salesforce admins to maintain user and application security setup including account setup, permission sets, and public group management.
  • Maintains a nightly batch job system that processes numerous data feeds.
  • Installs and/or upgrades vendor application(s) and other software needed to support the application system(s).
  • Deploys and configures new virtual hardware in support of vendor applications.
  • Completes monthly security audit including coordination of recommended changes with development team.
  • Coordinates with system administrators during monthly operating system maintenance.
  • Works with IT networking and system administrators to maintain firewall configuration and rulesets.
  • Identifies and resolves technical issues. Works with the software vendors and other IT Services departments to determine best method to resolve issues.
  • Develops an understanding of advancement systems business processes.
  • Develops an understanding of service management concepts/ITIL processes.
  • Coordinates with CRM vendor to create deployment scripts in support of monthly release process.
  • Assists junior resources in deployment related activities.
  • Coordinates monthly application releases between application development and business partner teams in compliance with University Change Management procedures.
  • Ensures that all managed package fixes from vendor are integrated into our Salesforce Communities and Ascend solutions.
  • Supports nightly code deployment process.
  • Creates new deployment scripts and integrates into existing code base.
  • Takes proactive steps to ensure the team delivers high quality system releases that require little or no re-work.
  • Provides estimates to complete tasks as needed.
  • Creates and conducts unit testing following a standard methodology.
  • Administers operating systems, maintains security, and implements backup procedures for the organization's information systems and peripheral equipment, such as servers, desktops, printers, and storage devices.
  • Plans and installs necessary patches and upgrades for servers and their associated storage, network, communications, and peripheral sub-systems. Installs and maintains an appropriate level of intrusion detection, monitoring, and auditing software as required.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology.

Experience:
  • Development, implementation, support, and maintenance of a vendor supported system.
  • Working with continuous integration and delivery tools such as Git, Jenkins.
  • Working with Maven and Ant as build tools for the building of deployable artifacts.
  • Working with databases and data integrity.
  • Performing multiple roles of working in production support, providing technical consultation and/or project management.
  • Performing system installs and/or updates.
  • Stepping through the code of a vendor purchased application and its associated back-end processes and integrated applications in order to resolve production issues.
  • Deploying configuration workflows that support the business delivery of IT.

Certifications:
  • Certified Salesforce Administrator, advanced skills.
