Job Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Human Resource Assistant Director where you will play a pivotal role in supporting students and managing temporary and part-time employment, and overseeing visa, payroll, and compliance processes. Your systems expertise will ensure smooth HR operations and enhance the overall employee experience. Responsibilities
  • Manages student hiring by consulting with hiring managers and UC Grad on processes and requirements; union contract compliance; posting positions; updating jobs; guiding students through onboarding and documentation; partnering with payroll and other departments; and responding accordingly to changes in policies and procedures.
  • Counsel international students and staff on work authorization, tax treaties, and visa requirements.
  • Create communications related to payroll, accruals, benefits, HR initiatives, and policies.
  • Develops tools and facilitates instruction for student employment and payroll orientation.
  • Manage and recruits for all temporary and part-time employment.
  • Monitor ERISA hours and work with supervisors to transition or end temporary employees at their maximum time/hours.
  • Manages Workday data management activities ensuring data integrity and compliance.
  • Organizes, creates, and implements process improvement for HR Operations.
  • Develops and maintains Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), surveys and metrics, benchmarks, and ad hoc reports to support team analysis to proactively solve problems and turn ideas into action.
  • Serve as the system expert for all time-related issues and trains time approvers and system users, and audit hours for non-exempt staff.
  • Serves as Training Facilitator and delivers university led workshops along with customized unit workshops.
  • Provides HR support to unit in core HR areas including unit initiatives, talent management, recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, and engagement.
  • Develops and delivers training content and supports professional development requests for individuals and group training.
  • Plans, manages, and executes special staff engagement activities.
  • Collaborate on cross functional teams as a thought partner and executing plans.
  • Counsels employees on benefits and compensation. Coordinates with managers and senior colleagues to determine employee compensation. Analyzes data and prepares charts, graphs, and trend lines for management review with a moderate level of guidance.
  • Provides professional support to a unit's employee/labor relations efforts, including handling grievances, disciplinary warnings, and employee complaints.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Education:
  • Bachelors degree in related field.

Experience:
  • 2-4 years experience in human resources or in a related job discipline.
  • Experience working with international students.
  • Experience in higher education.

Technical Knowledge or Skills:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Expertise with Workday preferred.
  • Proficiency with Hubspot, Cvent, Salesforce, Zoom and Monday.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and municipal employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency with visa and work authorization.
