Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Student Recruitment and Global Outreach (SRGO), the Director of Recruitment and Outreach Management will serve as an effective people manager managing a team of frontline recruiters and being accountable for the various student recruitment work streams and tasks delivery to achieve the master program's enrollment goals.

The person will work closely with the other directors with the SRGO team to plan and implement the strategy to recruiting 500+ graduate students to study public policy at Harris. This is a people manager role that requires an understanding of various aspects of admissions (marketing operations, Slate, data analytics) and a proven record of developing diverse team members. This hire will manage a team of at least three FTE frontline recruiters based in Chicago and the University's global centers as well as a team of student workers.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver Frontline Recruitment Operational Plan.
  • Work closely with other colleagues (SRGO directors and functional experts) to co-design the strategic recruitment plan from lead generation to enrollment with a focus on frontline staffing needs, frontline recruiters' outreach coverage and effectiveness design.
  • Develop, manage and monitor the frontline recruiters' outreach work schedule to achieve the process (touchpoint frequency, quality, recruiter utilization, event attendance) and output (number of applications created, submitted) goals.
  • Generate data queries and reports from Slate and Tableau to measure and track process and output KPIs.
  • Collect and synthesize quantitative and qualitative information from frontline recruiters and recruitment data metrics to provide continuous improvement insights to reflect in the strategic planning and adjustment process to ensure the SRGO key goals' achievement.
  • Manage people.
  • Set up individual frontline recruiters' KPIs (Key Performance Indicator) that reflect and achieve the organizational goals and the individual development goals.
  • Guide and support frontline recruiters to develop their specific performance goals and plan. Calibrate with the individual recruiters on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually) to check the progress, provide support, and align on actionable feedback for continuous development and improvement.
  • Explore and provide insights from managing people to process, culture, way of working improvement to enhance the team's collective productivity and engagement.
  • Manage a team of student workers and design the appropriate work distribution to maximize productivity based on the project/task requirements between FTE and student workers.
  • Manage recruitment caseload.
  • Manage a caseload of frontline recruitment by developing relationships with and advising prospective students via phone, email, information sessions and zoom/in-person meetings.
  • Facilitate personal connections between students, alumni and prospective students.
  • Track outreach and interactions in Slate and Salesforce (as needed).
  • Participate in the Admissions Committee assisting in the final selection of admitted Masters students and in financial aid and scholarship award allocation decisions.
  • Develops operational plans to develop and execute admissions strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Manages the planning and implementation of public presentations, special events, and other recruitment activities.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree in higher education.

Experience:
  • Related program, student recruitment and people management experience within the higher education sector.
  • Experience with the University of Chicago.
  • Proven track-record of creating high-volume application and lead generation growth from diverse student segments in university recruitment.
  • Familiarity with Slate and Tableau.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%).
  • Ability to work during evenings and weekends to accommodate special events and different time zones (up to 20%).
