Application Engineer

This role will be based in the Chicago region

This position is home-based and requires daily travel to customer sites within a geographical region. Travel outside of the region will be required.

Candidate must be able to obtain necessary clearance and/or credentials as required. The types of credentials could include, but are not limited to, Homeland Security clearance, background and credit checks, etc.

What will you do?

  • Interact with customers, contractors, and end-users and work well in a team environment.
  • Provide Software installation, upgrade, and start-up services for Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) software including troubleshooting equipment and device communications on the network and providing customer training for the commissioned system.
  • Configure and commission Schneider Electric hardware and software.
  • Document the as-built system.


What qualifications will make you successful?

  • Passion for helping clients use electrical power more efficiently.
  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is preferred. However, a minimum of three years of experience in the field will be considered in place of a degree.
  • Excellent communication and client interaction skills.
  • Confidence and ability to take a project through completion.
  • Experience with electrical power meters (configuration, troubleshooting, and commissioning).
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret electrical and network drawings.
  • Experience setting up communications with Electrical Power Monitoring Systems, Systems Integration, and Energy Management Systems.



Qualifications, Desirable:

  • Experience working around electrical equipment such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, etc.
  • Good understanding of industry-standard communication protocols emphasizing Modbus serial and Modbus TCP.
  • IEC 61850 and BACnet experience a plus.
  • Knowledgeable in computer networking architectures, topologies, and hardware
  • Direct experience with Schneider Electric proprietary software such as Power Monitoring Expert and Power SCADA Operation / Ecostruxure Power Operation.
