Job Description

We are seeking customer service superstars to join our team of front-line ambassadors who welcome 1 million visitors each year to the Arboretum. You will create a friendly, welcoming environment and consistently provide exceptional service to all guests. The Visitor Services team shares information sells tickets, and problem-solves in a professional and courteous manner. Successful candidates will be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, be able to effectively adapt to change and be comfortable with electronic technology to utilize and troubleshoot our electronic ticketing system. Work occurs independently and as part of a team. You'll be part of a great team working together to make the Arboretum exceptional.
Position Summary:Support all aspects of Admission & Special Event ticketing for our fall season andIllumination, Tree Lights at The Morton Arboretum. Provide a welcoming environment for visitors. Complete retail transactions, troubleshoot orders, scan tickets, rebook reservations, and answer customer inquiries in person, via email, and by phone.

Essential Functions:

Provide friendly customer service and accurately communicate Arboretum activities and policies. Ensure that guest and member needs are met in a timely and friendly manner, including following-up and resolving customer issues.

Utilize e-commerce software to process admission and event registrations. Manage and edit orders as needed.

Verbally instruct callers to online information or on how best to use the Arboretum online ticketing portal.

Maintain an active, accurate knowledge of Arboretum programs, events, and activities, and exhibit the ability and willingness to share information with visitors and callers.

Multi-task digitally by navigating easily and effectively between various information sources such as the Arboretum website, intranet, Google apps, email, etc.

Reply to ticketing and admission email inquiries or forward, as needed, to other departments.

Maintain excellent communication with internal parties (staff, peers, supervisors, volunteers) and external parties (members & guests). This includes providing timely feedback regarding customer interactions, concerns, and suggestions.

Ensure work areas are kept well-stocked and neat.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent required, Associate's degree preferred. 2+ years of customer service experience is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, including the use of proper grammar in written correspondence. Computer literacy is required, with proficiency in the basic skills of opening, composing and organizing emails, as well as ability to navigate websites and other digital resources. Prior use of Google applications is preferred. Spanish speaking is preferred, but not required.

Physical Demands:Requires some physical activity with limited lifting and carrying (up to 20 lbs). Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Dexterity to use phone headset.

Work Environment: Work is performed primarily indoors, with occasional work outside, in all weather conditions. All shifts are on-site and may not be performed remotely. Daytime shifts occur at a workstation, seated at a computer and keyboard. Evening shifts are performed at the indoor entry point for Illumination, welcoming ticket holders, as well as scanning and selling event tickets.

Equipment: Computer, VOIP multi-line phone, headset, credit card terminal, printer/copier, and two-way radio. Other general office equipment, as needed.

Schedule: Season runs from September to early January. Evening, holiday, and weekend hours are required. Shift hours vary with some daytime shifts starting at 8:00 a.m. and some evening shifts ending as late as 9:30 p.m.
The hourly rate for this position is $20 /hour
