UI Health is seeking a Medical Office Specialist (Transplant Scheduling Specialist) to join our SCB Transplant Clinic. This role
provides a transplant patient with a range of complex clerical and scheduling services. In close collaboration with the transplant nurse coordinator and transplant providers, the Transplant Scheduling Specialist maintains all clerical and scheduling aspects of the assigned recipient and donor needs. This position is 100% on-site.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Serves as transplant patients primary scheduling point of contact.
Coordinates patients' appointment schedules (e.g., contacts patients to confirm appointments, set up return appointments); mails new information to new patients containing directions, appointment confirmations, and required releases.
Calls patients to remind them of their appointments.
Initiates and retrieves medical records and source documents as requested.
Serve as administrative support for transplant education classes or other events. Onsite support for the onsite class is required.
Routes calls and responds to voicemails in a timely manner.
Verifies external referrals to the UI Health Transplant program
Under the direction of the registered nurse, composes various patient correspondence such as letters of medical necessity, UNOS listing letters, patient itineraries, letters of interests, etc.
Reviews and monitors efficiency of EPIC scheduling work queues to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of patient scheduling.
Under the direct of the registered nurse, composes various dialysis center and referring provider correspondence letters
Ensures administrative fields are accurate and up to date in EPIC Phoenix
Monitors workflow; trains new staff; is responsible for training permanent, temporary, and backup coverage in all phases of reception work
Assists in workflow changes in current operating procedures or suggests the development of new ones; collaborates in building procedure/policies in transplant program scheduling procedures.
Cross trained to other clerical teams within the department.
Other duties as assigned.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months), from the categories below:
